Bangladesh qualify for AFC Women's Asian Cup with all-win record beating Turkmenistan 7-0
High flying Bangladesh Women’s Football team qualified for the 12-team final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 in style with all-win record outplaying Turkmenistan by 7-0 goals in the last group match at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon Saturday evening.
Bangladesh scored all the seven goals in the first half in an one sided match where Turkmenistan booters were completely off coloured in all the departments.
Country's wonder girl Ritu Porna Chakma, who guided Bangladesh to their first-ever final round berth in the AFC Women's Asian Cup scoring two eye catching goals against stronger Myanmar on Wednesday, today (Saturday) also scored twice against Turkmenistan.
With the day's feat, Ritu Porna Chakma scored five goals in three group matches including one against Bahrain.
Shamsun Nahar Junior also scored two goals while Tohura Khatun, Sopna Rani and Monika Chakma scored one goal each for Bangladesh.
Sopna Rani put Bangladesh ahead in the very 4th minute by a power packed shot , off a Shamsun Nahar cross came his way from Tohura Khatun (1-0).
Winger Shamsin Nahar Junior scored two goals in a row in the 6th minute and 13th minute 3-0).
Monika Chakma scored the 4th goal for Bangladesh in the 16th minute(4-0), Ritu Porna Chakma scored the 5th goal in the 18th minute (5-0) while Tohura Khatun netted the 6th goal in the 20th minute to take 6-0 lead within just 20 minutes.
Finally, Ritu Porna Chakma sealed the fate of the match scoring her 2nd goal in the 42nd minute by a left footer, off a Monika Chakma' s short corner (7-0).

Bangladesh taste maiden victory in Women's Asian Cup crushing Bahrain 7-0
Bangladesh Women’s football team tasted their maiden victory in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers with a massive 7-0 victory over higher-ranked Bahrain in the opening Group C match at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Sunday evening.
This is the first win for Bangladesh women’s team in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers after five consecutive defeats in the last two editions, conceding 25 goals.
Bangladesh clearly dominated the first half with a 5-0 lead.
In the day's one-sided match, Shamsunnahar Junior put Bangladesh ahead in the 10th minute (1-0), Ritu Porna Chakma doubled the margin in the 16th minute (2-0), while Kohati Kisku scored the third goal for Bangladesh in the 40th minute (3-0).
Experienced forward Tohura Khatun scored two more goals in quick succession in the 2nd and 4th minutes of added time at the end of the first half, giving Bangladesh a clear 5-0 advantage over their 36th-ranked Bahrain.
Rawan Al Ali of Bahrain further increased Bangladesh’s lead by scoring an own goal in the 60th minute (6-0), while substitute Munki Akhter sealed the victory with the 7th goal in the 74th minute (7-0).
Bahrain women’s team looked helpless against their Bangladesh opponents throughout the match.
Bangladesh’s team was motivated by recent draws against stronger, higher-ranked Lebanon and Indonesia in a tri-nation tournament in Lebanon.
Bangladesh made three substitutions in the 66th minute, bringing on Sagorika, Munki Akhter, and Shaheeda Akhter Ripa, replacing Shamsunnahar Jr, Monika Chakma, and Swapna Rani.
In the day's other Group C match, hosts Myanmar defeated Turkmenistan 8-0 to top the group.
Bangladesh Women’s team, which clinched the SAFF Women’s title for the second consecutive time, has been placed in Group C of the Asian tournament along with higher-ranked Myanmar, Bahrain, and Turkmenistan.
In remaining Group C matches, Bangladesh will face hosts Myanmar on July 2 at 3:30 pm (BST) and Turkmenistan on July 5 at 6:30 pm (BST), both at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
The champion of the four-team Group C will earn the right to play in the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia next year.

Bangladesh National Women's Football team completed their Group G engagements of the AFC Women's Asian Cup India' 2022 Qualifiers empty handed after another embarrassing 0-5 goals defeat against Iran on Wednesday.
This was their 2nd last group match at the Bunyokar Stadium in the Uzbek capital Tashkent. In the first group match, Bangladesh also conceded a frustrating 0-5 goals defeat against Jordan last Sunday, featuring a hattrick by captain Maysa Zaid.
After Wednesday’s match, Bangladesh team were eliminated from the three-nation group G with two humiliating defeats as only group champions will qualify for the final round of the AFC Women's Asian Cup in India next year.In the match, Iran dominated the first half by 3-0 goals.
Captain-cum-midfielder Behnaz Taherkhani struck twice in the 31st and 61st minutes, defenders Melika Motevalli and Golnoosh Khosravi scored one goal each in the 4th and 14th minutes respectively while Hajar Dabbaghi netted the remaining goal for Iran in the 55th minute.

AFC Women's Asian Cup: Bangladesh to play Iran in last group match on Wednesday
Bangladesh National Women's Football team will play Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday in their last Group G match of the AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 Qualifiers.
The match will kick-off at 4 pm Bangladesh Time at the Bunyodkor Football Stadium in Tashkent.
Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the three-team Group G of the AFC Cup after suffering a humiliating 0-5 goal defeat against stronger Jordan at the same venue last Sunday, featuring a hattrick by Jordan captain Maysha Ziad Jbarah.
Ahead of the match against Iran, Bangladesh team made their gym and activation session at the team hotel Tuesday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 pm and had their practice session at the training ground of the match venue in the afternoon from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.
Earlier, BFF member and chairman of its women’s wing Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, now in Uzbekistan, announced a special award for Bangladesh team amounting to US $ 3,000 for win and US $ 1000 for a draw, but, Bangladesh are far away from achieving the target after conceding a huge defeat.

AFC Women's Asian Cup: Bangladesh lose 0-5 to Jordan
Bangladesh national women's football conceded a 0-5 defeat against Jordan in the three-team Group G match of the AFC Women's Asian Cup Sunday.
Jordan put Bangladesh down by two goals in the first half at the Bunyodkor Football Stadium in the Uzbek capital Tashkent.
Captain Maysha Ziad Jbarah scored three goals for Jordan in the 62nd, 67th and 77th minutes, while Shahnaz Jebreen and Bana Zaid Al Bitar added one each in the 35th and 45th minutes.
Earlier, chairperson of BFF women's wing Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, who is now in Uzbekistan, announced a special award for the Bangladesh team – $3,000 for a win and $1000 for a draw.
The Bangladesh team will play against Iran Wednesday at the same time and same venue.
