Bangladesh reported 38 more Covid cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning. With the new numbers, the caseload rose to 2,036,306, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The daily case test positivity rate rose to 1.22 per cent from Wednesday’s 1.05 per cent as 3,123 samples were tested during the period. The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45 percent, while the recovery rate rose to 97.45 per cent. Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 the same year.

Prime Minister  and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Mymensingh’s Gafargaon pourashava unit Awami League president Abdul Halim Manik.  She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
