KU suspends in-person classes and decides to go online teaching
The Khulna University authorities on Friday announced suspension of in-person classes until February 6, due to the recent surge of Covid-19 cases across the country. However, online classes will be held and the dormitories will remain open during this period.
Read: DU suspends physical classes till Feb 6 The decision came from an emergency meeting held virtually at 4pm chaired by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain, said the university’s PRO Md Atiar Rahman. The classes for the first year of the 2020-21 academic year which were scheduled to begin on January 30 has also been cancelled. At the same time, first year registration and admission to vacant seats will also remain postponed, he added. "The decision in this regard will be taken later". Besides, the offices of the university will be in service from 9 am to 1 pm following proper health guidelines.

In addition, all concerned have been requested not to hold meetings, rallies and public gatherings on the campus until further notice due to coronavirus infection.

Rajshahi University dormitories reopen after 18 months
Authorities on Sunday reopened the residential halls Rajshahi University (RU) after closure for long 18 months due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The students started to enter their respective halls at 10 am amid much enthusiasm showing their ID cards and vaccination cards.

The university administration decided to reopen the halls at a meeting of the university's academic council on September 30.
The university administration has issued some instructions including wearing masks for the students to enter the halls.
Basins have been installed in front of the dormitories to wash their hands. However, most of the 16 residential halls have not been renovated.
Students who have not yet been vaccinated yet but got registered on the Surokkha app have been asked to get vaccinated at the Shaheed Sukhranjan Samaddar Student-Teacher Cultural Center (TSCC) from October 18 to 22.

University Public Relations office administrator professor Ajijur Rahman said students need to get at least one dose of corona vaccine to enter the halls. Two copies of the vaccination certificate, hall identity card and stamp size picture of them have to be shown at the entrance.
All the residential halls of Rajshahi University remained closed since March 16 last year. Academic activities will resume on October 20.

Flowers & banners welcome students as DU reopens dorms
After nearly 18 months of Covid-forced closure, Dhaka University Tuesday morning welcomed back its residential students to the dormitories with flowers and banners.
Only vaccinated final-year honours and master’s students were allowed to check in, after production of valid documents and proof of at least a dose of a Covid vaccine.

UNB found students in a cheerful mood as they queued up to enter the residential halls, wearing face masks and adhering to other mandatory Covid-safety protocols like social distancing.
Inside halls, provosts were seen asking them to refrain from hanging out in groups or crowding a particular place.

Kuet dorms to reopen on October 22
Khulna University for Science and Technology (Kuet) will reopen its dormitories from October 22 for 3rd year, final year and Masters students.
Rest of students will be allowed to stay at dormitories from November 5.

The decision was taken at the 81st (emergency) meeting of the Academic Council chaired by University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kazi Sazzad Hossain on Sunday afternoon after reviewing the instructions of the Education Ministry and University Grants Commission (UGC).
According to the meeting, classes of the 3rd, final year and Masters students will start on October 25 and classes of the 1st and 2nd year students will start on November 7.

Students who have received the first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine will be allowed to enter halls after showing the vaccine card.
