Indigenous man’s body recovered from Rangamati
Police have recovered the body of an indigenous man from Rangamati's Rajsthali upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek Chakma (35).
According to local sources, there was a gunfight between two armed activists of Marma National Party (Mog Party) and Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS) at Ogaripara of Gaindya union under Rajsthali upazila on Friday night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajasthan Police Station Zakir Hossain said that the gunfight occurred in a remote hilly area 6 km off the upazila headquarters on Friday night.
The body of Abhishek, wearing olive-colored uniform, was recovered Saturday morning.

The body was sent to Rangamati General Hospital for an autopsy, he said.

Indigenous man shot dead in Rangamati
A 45-year-old indigenous man was shot dead by some armed miscreants at Langdu and Barakal border areas of Rangamati early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Lakshmi Kumar Chakma, a resident of Subalang area of Barakal upazila. He was a former member of the regional party United People's Democratic Front (UPDF).

Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barakal police station, said some gunmen opened fire at Lakshmi near his home in Shilchhari area around 1:45am, leaving him dead and fled the scene immediately.
Lakshmi recently left UPDF and used to earn his bread by farming, said locals.

However, the OC said the motive behind the killing can be ascertained after an investigation.

Indigenous man burnt to death in Khagrachhari, one held
An indigenous man was burnt to death in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased is Chaithoai Marma, 60, a resident of Masterpara area of the upazila.
Police arrested Arefin Sharif Patwary, 26, son of Abu Ahmed and an employee of Ramgarh Rest House, in this connection.

Witnesses said Sharif hit Chaithoai with a brick first and then set fire to his body by pouring petrol in Masterpara area around 7pm.
Later, burn injured Chaithoai was rushed to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Ramgarh Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Md Raihan Uddin Kazemi said Arefin primarily confessed to his involvement in the killing but did not disclose the reason behind the murder.
Ansheu Marma, the son of the deceased, said Sharif had also set fire to their house a few days ago and then he lodged a complaint with Ramgarh police station and this might angered Sharif.
Meanwhile, Sharif's father Abu Ahmed said his son had been suffering from mental illness for the past few years and was given treatment in different places.

However, local councilor Ahsan Ullah said Sharif is drug-addict and local people has many complaints against him.
A case was filed in this regard, said the ASP.
