COAST Foundation distributes financial assistance among family members affected by fishing trawler accident in Bhola
COAST Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to coastal community development, provided its support for the families affected by the tragic fishing trawler incident that occurred on June 25 in Bhola district.
On June 25, a fishing trawler capsized during a severe storm near the mouth of Charpial 3 river, resulting in the loss of five lives.
Six fishermen were fortunate enough to be rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment at Charfashan Hospital. However, the search for two missing fishermen continues.

Recognizing the urgency and importance of providing immediate relief, COAST Foundation took the initiative to extend support to the affected families.
COAST utilized its own funds to provide financial assistance 90 thousand tk to the families of the deceased, injured, and missing fishermen, says a press release on Sunday afternoon .
This assistance aims to alleviate their financial burden and offer some comfort during this challenging time.
In a special ceremony held on Saturday, COAST Foundation officially distributed the support to the affected families.

Dignitaries including the Panel Chairman of Charmadraj Union, members, political leaders, teacher representatives, leaders of the Fisheries Society, and Mahmudul Haque Didar, Deputy Director of COAST Foundation, were present to express their solidarity and support.

Boat sinks in Karnaphuli; Teen goes missing
A 17-year old boy went missing as a boat sank in the Karnaphuli River after collision with a fishing trawler on Saturday night.
The missing boy was identified as Md Shohag, son of Md Karim from Cumilla.

When the small boat was crossing the river from Marine Fisheries Terminal of south bank it collided with an anchored trawler named FV Pertex-1 and sank.
All but Shohag managed to swim ashore.

A diving team and river police conducted search operation, said ABM Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Shdarghat River police station.
Shohag was returning to the port city with his father from Karnaphuli area, he said.

Fishing trawler hits UNO’s speedboat during Hilsa ban drive in Barishal
Two Ansar members were injured and a shotgun went missing in Gazaria river on Friday after a fishing trawler rammed into the speedboat of Mehendiganj upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) while he was overseeing a ban on Hilsa fishing.
Confirming the incident UNO Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Masud said legal action will be taken in this regard.
He gave no further details about the incident that occurred in Darirchar Khajuria Union of Mehendiganj upazila of the district.
The injured have been given first aid.

The divers of Barisal River Fire Service station launched a search for the missing firearm.
The 22-day Hilsa ban took effect on Sunday midnight aimed at ensuring the safe spawning of the popular fish during its peak breeding period. The ban will remain in place till October 25.
Fisheries department, upazila and district administrations, police and coast guard personnel will carry out regular drives to make sure that the ban is implemented strictly.
