Security guard’s body found inside bank branch in Rangpur
The body of a security guard was found inside the branch of the bank he was assigned to in Rangpur on Sunday morning.
Shamim Mia, 25, was the son of Amzad Hossain of Ranipukur village under Mithapukur upazila in the district, and worked at the Central Road branch of Agrani Bank in Rangpur city.
Ariful Islam, the manager of the branch, said Shamim had been working as a security guard at the branch for the past 17 months. He got married just ten days back, the manager added.
Staff found Shamim’s lifeless body lying inside the branch as they came to work on Sunday morning.

Hossain Ali, inspector (investigation) of Kotwali Police Station, said they rushed to the spot and recovered the body on being informed.
The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
The victim’s brother Shariful said Shamim used to return home in the evening from work, where he started in the morning.
He, however, didn’t return home on Saturday evening, Shariful added.

CMCH morgue guard arrested over act of necrophilia
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police on Monday arrested a guard of Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for his sexual act with dead bodies, known as necrophilia.
The arrestee is Mohammad Selim, 48, hailing from Laksham upazila in Cumilla.
CID made the arrest from CMCH area at 4 pm and in primary interrogation he confessed to having sex with two female corpses, said Md Shahnewaz Khaled, CID’s Special Superintendent of police in Chattogram.
Shahnewaz Khaled said CID started an investigation after finding the same man’s sperm in High Vaginal Swabs (HVS) collected during autopsies of two female corpses kept in CMCH morgue in February and April last year.

They collected DNA samples of Selim during the probe and it matched with the semen found in the two corpses.
SP Shahnewaz said usually autopsies are not done immediately after bringing the bodies into the morgue.
“We suspect Selim has done the act on more dead bodies. CID will file a case on allegation of unsocial fornication against him at Panchlaish police station,” he said.

To interrogate him CID will seek to take Selim under remand after producing him before court, he added.

Security guard dies after falling off vessel in Sitakunda
A security guard died after falling from an old ship while working at a shipyard in Sitakunda of Chattogram early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Rono Bikram Tripura, 27, son of Dharendra Tripura of Panchhari of Khagrachhari district.
Police said Rono Bikram got seriously injured when he fell off the ship at SL Shipyard in Madambibirhat area of Sitakunda around 8am.

He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where the doctor declared him dead, said Alauddin, sub-inspector (SI) of CMCH outpost.
The body was sent to CMCH morgue for an autopsy, said the SI.

Security guard held with 80 gold bars at Chattogram airport
Customs officials on Saturday detained a private security guard deployed at the Chattogram international airport for trying to smuggle in 80 gold bars worth Tk 5 crore.
The detainee has been identified as Belal.
Airport manager Wing Commander Farhad Hossain said that based on a tip-off, Belal was challenged by a Customs team as he attempted to leave Hazrat Shaha Amanat International Airport with the gold bars.

"Upon frisking, our team found the 80 gold bars, weighing 10 kg, in his possession. We suspect that the gold was brought to this country on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that landed from Dubai this morning," he said.
The market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 5 crore. “Efforts are on to initiate legal action against Belal,” said Farhad.
