Manchester United earn a deserved point after stoppage-time drama
Richarlison thought he had clinched a victory for Tottenham in the first minute of stoppage time, but the drama was far from over. Five minutes later, in the penultimate minute of the match, Matthijs de Ligt silenced the home fans with a stunning header to earn Manchester United a well-deserved point.
The Red Devils drew 2-2 with Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead when Bryan Mbeumo, who was named Premier League Player of the Month on Friday, came back to haunt his former manager Thomas Frank, guiding in Amad Diallo’s cross in the 32nd minute.
That was the only shot on target for either side in the first half, although the hosts dominated possession with 55 percent.
After the break, Tottenham piled pressure on the United defence, creating chances one after another. However, Ruben Amorim’s men stayed well-organised, denying all attacks and looking for a second goal whenever they regained possession. But it was Mathys Tel who found the equaliser for Tottenham six minutes before time.
Richarlison then thought he had won it for the hosts with a clever flicked header a minute into stoppage time, but de Ligt ensured the Red side of Manchester would return with at least a point from north London.
With the result, United stretched their unbeaten run to five matches, while Tottenham have now gone eight games without defeat against United.
The draw saw Tottenham move up to third place with 18 points from 11 matches, seven points behind leaders Arsenal ahead of the rest of the weekend fixtures. United also have 18 points but sit seventh due to an inferior goal difference.
The Premier League will pause for the international break over the next fortnight. When it returns, Tottenham will face leaders Arsenal on Sunday, November 23, while United will host Everton the following evening.

Manchester United’s winning run halted at Nottingham
Manchester United’s three-match winning streak came to an end as they were held to a 2–2 draw by Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening. Despite taking an early lead at the City Ground, United had to settle for a point after the visitors fought back to equalize late in the match.
Ruben Amorim’s men showed great determination throughout the match, but were forced to settle for a draw after failing to capitalize on several chances late in the game.
Casemiro put United ahead in the first half, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead at the break. However, Nottingham turned the game around in dramatic fashion early in the second half, scoring twice within just 90 seconds to go 2–1 up.
Ramos’ last-minute goal seals PSG victory over Nice
The hosts’ solid defensive display appeared to secure them all three points, but the Red Devil’s relentless pressure finally paid off in the 81st minute when Amad Diallo equalized to make it 2–2.
In the closing minutes, the visitors pressed harder for a winner but were unable to find the net again, leaving them with a single point from the match.
With the draw, Manchester United moved up to fifth in the table with 17 points from 10 matches, recording five wins and two draws. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, continue to struggle near the relegation zone, sitting 18th with just six points from the same number of games.

Manchester United stun Liverpool at Anfield
Struggling Manchester United surprised Premier League fans with a spectacular 2-1 win away from home over reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield. Harry Maguire’s late header secured United’s first victory at the ground in almost a decade.
It was also the first time United have won back-to-back league games under Ruben Amorim. The last time they triumphed at Anfield was in January 2016.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have now lost four games in a row in all competitions for the first time since November 2014.
United took just 62 seconds to go ahead in the game — the quickest Premier League goal at Anfield between these two sides — when Amad Diallo’s diagonal pass found Bryan Mbeumo, who beat Liverpool’s goalkeeper to give his side an early lead.
Arne Slot’s men piled pressure on the visitors after conceding but were unable to find an equaliser before the break. They kept up the intensity after the restart, and Cody Gakpo brought Liverpool level in the 78th minute with a close-range tap-in.
However, United were in no mood to settle for a point. Led by captain Bruno Fernandes, they pushed forward again, and Maguire scored the winning goal just six minutes later.
Liverpool were a bit unlucky, creating numerous chances to score, but failing to convert any. Gakpo could have earned a penalty in the 18th minute when his volley struck Diallo’s hand and deflected wide, but referee Michael Oliver decided not to award a spot-kick. Gakpo also hit the crossbar three times, including once in stoppage time when Liverpool came close to equalising again.
With this victory, United climbed to ninth place with 13 points from eight matches, while Liverpool missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Arsenal, who top the table with 19 points from the same number of games. The Reds sit fourth with 15 points, having won five of their eight league matches.
Liverpool will visit Frankfurt on Wednesday to face Eintracht in the Champions League before returning to league action away at Brentford next Saturday.
United’s next game is at home to Brighton on Saturday. Brighton have won their last three games at Old Trafford. So, that will be another test for the Red Devils — one they will be eager to overcome to continue their progress.

Manchester United edge Chelsea in red-card laden thriller at Old Trafford
Manchester United held nerve for a crucial 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday in a chaotic Premier League clash at Old Trafford. The match saw both sides reduced to 10 men. The win came as a massive relief for United manager Ruben Amorim, whose job security had been in question following a shaky start to the season.
The match got off to a blistering start, with Chelsea’s hopes taking an early hit in the 5th minute when goalkeeper Robert Sanchez received a straight red card for a foul on United’s Bryan Mbeumo outside the box. The early numerical advantage allowed United to seize control of the match, and they didn’t hesitate to capitalize on it.
In the 14th minute, Mbeumo’s cross found Patrick Dorgu, who set up Bruno Fernandes for a powerful volley from close range. The goal was a milestone for the Portuguese midfielder, marking his 100th for the club in his 200th appearance.
United doubled their lead in the 37th minute. A scramble in the Chelsea box resulted in Harry Maguire heading the ball to an unmarked Casemiro, who finished with a perfect header.

However, just before halftime, the Brazilian midfielder went from hero to villain, picking up a second yellow card and leaving United with 10 men as well.
As the Blues returned to the numerical balance, the second half was a more even contest. Chelsea had a goal disallowed for offside in the 63rd minute. They continued to push further, which resulted in them finally pulling one back with a header from Trevoh Chalobah in the 80th minute.
However, Chelsea couldn’t find an equalizer despite their tremendous trying, and the final whistle was met with a thunderous roar from the Old Trafford faithful.
United dominated in attack despite trailing in possession, registering 11 shots with four on target compared to Chelsea’s five shots and only one on target.
The win sees United climb the table to ninth place with seven points, while Chelsea, who suffered their first loss of the season, now sit sixth with eight points.

Manchester United sets another unwanted Premier League record
Manchester United set another unwanted club record on Sunday after losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton.
A 15th league loss of the season is the most United has suffered in any single campaign in the Premier League era and emphasizes the club's ongoing decline.
United has dominated England's top flight since the inception of the Premier League in 1992 — winning 13 titles. But it has not been crowned champion since 2013 when former manager Alex Ferguson retired.
Last season it set a new high for league losses with 14 defeats. With five rounds still to go, Ruben Amorim's team has already gone past that benchmark.
“We need to fight for wins, score goals and try to get more points,” Amorim said. "This season is going to end like this. We need to take the positives, try to work on the things we need to improve.
“We have to work and try to be better in the first game of next season.”
Amorim said in January that this might be the worst team in the club's history and the lows have kept on coming.
A 15th league loss is the most for any United team since the 1989-90 campaign when it was defeated 16 times in England’s old Division One.
AHF Cup Hockey: Bangladesh earn 2nd consecutive victory beating hosts Indonesia 3-2
Premier League statistician Opta said an eighth home defeat in the league was the most since United was beaten nine times in 1962-63.
Worst points total in Premier League
United is already certain to set the club’s worst-ever points total in the Premier League. The latest loss left it on 38 points.
United’s lowest total was 58 in the 2021-22 season. Even a perfect finish would only see United amass 53 this term.
The record 20-time English champion is also on course to record its lowest league finish in the Premier League.
The previous low was set by Erik ten Hag's team last season when finishing eighth in the standings - the club's worst final position in 34 years. United is currently 14th and 11 points behind eighth-placed Bournemouth.
Silver lining
But Amorim could still end the campaign on a successful note by winning the Europa League. United staged a dramatic fightback to beat Lyon 5-4 on Thursday and advance to the semifinals of Europe's second tier competition.
United plays Athletic Bilbao in the next round. The Europa League winner also qualifies for next season's Champions League.

Former Man United prospect Joe Thompson dies at 36
Joe Thompson, a former Manchester United academy player who made more than 200 appearances for local club Rochdale, has died. He was 36.
Fifth-tier English club Rochdale announced that Thompson, who had been fighting cancer for a third time, died Thursday at home with family by his side.
“We first knew Joe primarily as a talented footballer, but we would soon grow to adore his loving, infectious personality,” Rochdale said in a statement on Friday.
“He faced every battle head-on, both on and off the pitch. His journey and indomitable spirit have been an inspiration for everyone who has been touched by his story. Above all of that, Joe was a loving husband to Chantelle and an incredible father to Thailula and Athena Rae.”
A midfielder, Thompson was first diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2013 while playing for Tranmere. The disease returned three years later.
Thompson announced he was cancer-free in 2017 and less than a year later entered himself “into Rochdale folklore,” the club said, by coming off the bench in the final game of the 2017-18 season to score in a 1-0 win that kept the team in the third tier.

He retired in 2019 and went on to become a motivational speaker and soccer pundit. He also held an ambassadorial role with United.
Last year, Thompson was diagnosed with cancer for a third time.
United posted a tribute to Thompson on its social media channels, saying he “epitomized our club’s values.”
Rochdale, located just north of Manchester, said its players would wear black armbands during Friday’s match at Altrincham in the National League.

Man United stuns Lyon in epic 5-4 comeback to reach Europa League semifinals
Old Trafford witnessed one of its most unforgettable European nights as Manchester United pulled off a stunning 5-4 comeback victory over Lyon to secure a place in the Europa League semifinals.
Despite their struggles in the Premier League this season, United delivered a performance full of heart and drama. After surrendering an early two-goal advantage, the Red Devils found themselves trailing 4-2 in extra time against a Lyon side reduced to 10 men. But the comeback kings refused to fold.
Ticket sales for Bangladesh-Zimbabwe first Test begins on Saturday
Captain Harry Maguire emerged the hero, scoring a last-gasp winner in stoppage time of extra time, sparking wild celebrations and reviving hopes of silverware in an otherwise turbulent season.
Head coach Ruben Amorim remained optimistic: “We still have time to make something special of this season, so we have to think like that and be positive,” he said after the match.
United now face Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao in the semifinals, after they eased past Rangers 2-0 in their quarterfinal clash.
Elsewhere, Tottenham also advanced to the final four, securing a gritty 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt to go through 2-1 on aggregate—another bright spot in a challenging domestic campaign.
History was made in Norway too, as Bodo/Glimt became the first Norwegian team to reach a European semifinal. They overcame Lazio in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a 3-3 aggregate scoreline after extra time in Rome.

Manchester United announces plans for "World's Greatest" soccer stadium
Manchester United revealed its plans on Tuesday to construct the "world's greatest" soccer stadium. The proposed 100,000-seater venue would surpass Wembley as the largest stadium in the United Kingdom.
The club, 20-time English champions, said it intends to build the new stadium next to its historic Old Trafford ground, likely avoiding the need to relocate during construction.
"Our current stadium has been excellent for us over the past 115 years, but it no longer matches the top venues in global sport," said part-owner Jim Ratcliffe. "By building adjacent to the existing site, we can maintain Old Trafford's legacy while creating a cutting-edge stadium that will elevate the fan experience just steps from our iconic home."
United did not disclose the cost or timeline for the project, though architect Norman Foster indicated that construction would take five years.
British billionaire Ratcliffe, who acquired a 25% stake in the club for $1.3 billion last year, has made the new stadium a key priority.
While redevelopment of Old Trafford was considered, the preferred option was to build a completely new venue.
"Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey toward creating the world's greatest football stadium," Ratcliffe said.
Injured Neymar criticised for skipping Santos' semifinal after Carnival
The club envisions the stadium as part of a broader initiative to rejuvenate the surrounding Old Trafford area, a project that could contribute £7.3 billion ($9.4 billion) to the U.K. economy. The British government has expressed support, though funding details remain unclear.
Wembley, the current largest stadium in the U.K., has a capacity of 90,000 and is home to England’s national team. Twickenham, home to rugby’s national team, holds 82,500. Old Trafford, the largest soccer-specific stadium in the U.K., holds just over 74,000, but it is now considered outdated compared to more modern venues like the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which also hosts NFL games.
"Our long-term goal is for our club to have the world's best football team playing in the world's best stadium," said United CEO Omar Berrada.
Legendary manager Alex Ferguson emphasized the need for boldness, stating the club must seize the opportunity to build a new, future-proof home for making new history.
This announcement comes just days after thousands of United fans protested against the club's ownership, citing concerns over cost-cutting, rising ticket prices, and ongoing on-field struggles.
The club is majority-owned by the American Glazer family, which also owns the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Ratcliffe, upon investing, promised to return United to the top of European soccer after more than a decade since its last Premier League title. However, his first year overseeing soccer operations has been challenging, as the team suffered its worst-ever Premier League season last year and currently struggles in the lower half of the standings.

EPL: Liverpool humiliate Manchester United with 7-0 rout
Liverpool brought Manchester United crashing down to earth in a stunning 7-0 rout at Anfield on Sunday.
Only a week after winning the League Cup, United experienced their heaviest defeat in the Premier League and the club’s joint worst loss in all competitions.
Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all struck twice and Roberto Firmino scored the other, with six of the goals coming in an explosive second-half performance.
It also delivered a major blow to Erik ten Hag’s four-pronged pursuit of trophies, with a league title challenge now looking increasingly unlikely.
Liverpool, meanwhile, took advantage of losses for top-four rivals Newcastle and Tottenham on Saturday to strengthen their bid to qualify for the Champions League.
Salah became the Merseyside club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 129 goals.
Liverpool may have endured a frustrating campaign so far as Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled for consistency but Anfield was in raptures at the sight of fierce rival United being humbled on Merseyside.
To add to that, the gap to fourth-place Tottenham is down to three points, with Liverpool still having a game in hand.
While Liverpool eyed the top four, United knew anything other than a win would be a huge blow to its challenge for the title after Arsenal’s late 3-2 victory against Bournemouth on Saturday.
History, however, was not on the visitors’ side, having failed to win at Anfield since 2016. United lost 4-0 in the same fixture last season.
For all of United’s progress under Ten Hag, this was the latest test of his team’s nerve on the big occasion, having already seen losses at Manchester City and Arsenal this season.
And seven days after the Dutch manager won his first trophy at United came this humiliating setback.
Gakpo put Liverpool ahead in the 43rd minute when collecting Andrew Robertson’s pass. He immediately charged into the box, sidestepped Raphael Varane and then swept a shot past David de Gea and into the bottom corner.
United’s players had been guilty of wasting chances of their own before that goal with Bruno Fernandes missing the target with a far post header and Marcus Rashford firing tamely at Alisson with only the goalkeeper to beat.
If United fans expected a response after the break, they were instead left stunned by Liverpool’s explosive start to the second half.
Nunez extended Liverpool’s lead when heading in Harvey Elliott’s cross after Luke Shaw failed to clear the ball.
It was 3-0 in the 50th after Salah’s clever footwork beat Lisandro Martinez and he then clipped a pass for Gakpo to lift over De Gea.
From there it went from bad to worse for Ten Hag as his team still tried to get back into the match.
Liverpool ruthlessly exploited United’s ragged defence, with Salah making it 4-0 in the 66th and Nunez scoring again in the 75th.
It was 6-0 when Salah scored in the 83rd and substitute Firmino stepped off the bench to score in the 88th.
Liverpool’s seven goals came from just eight shots on target.

Ronaldo Saudi move to signal likely end of elite club career
Less than two weeks after his great rival Lionel Messi lifted the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo has completed a move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and likely signalled the end of his career in elite club soccer.
In agreeing a contract until 2025, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has ended speculation about his future after having his contract terminated by Manchester United last month.
“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” Ronaldo said.
Al Nassr described the deal as “history in the making,” however, it is likely to raise questions about Ronaldo’s ambition at this stage of his career.
While Messi finally won the one major trophy that had evaded the two men widely regarded as the greatest players of their generation, after leading Argentina to the World Cup in Qatar, Ronaldo will be playing outside of top level European soccer for the first time in his career.
Media reports have claimed the 37-year-old Portugal international could earn up to $200 million a year from the move, but he will miss out on the chance to extend his record as the all-time leading scorer in the Champions League with his record currently standing at 140 goals.
Messi is on 129 goals in the competition.
Ronaldo is also unlikely to add to his Ballon d’Or collection - the trophy awarded to the best player in the world.
Meanwhile, Messi will be among the favourites to win that trophy for an eighth time next year after his World Cup triumph.
He also has the chance to win the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, having lifted European club soccer’s biggest prize on four occasions with Barcelona.
Ronaldo won the Champions League five times during spells with United and Real Madrid.
Six months ago Ronaldo wanted to join a team playing in the Champions League after United failed to qualify for this season’s competition.

However, a move never materialized, with the most serious interest in him coming from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.
It is not known what other serious offers were made after he became a free agent last month, but the move to Al Nassr represents a significant step down compared to the level he has operated at throughout his career.
Still it is a major coup for soccer in the Middle East and will add to the debate over Saudi Arabia’s attempts to use so-called “sportswashing” to improve its reputation internationally after its sovereign wealth fund led a buyout of Premier League club Newcastle United last year.
“This is more than history in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves,” Al Nassr posted on social media.
Ronaldo remains one of soccer’s biggest global icons, but the move comes at a time when he has faced questions over his ability to still produce his best form at the highest level.
He managed just three goals for United in 16 games this season, with one of those coming from the penalty spot.
He became the first male player to score in five World Cups with his penalty in Portugal’s 3-2 win against Ghana in Qatar, but ended the tournament having been dropped for his country’s last two games before going out to Morocco in the quarterfinals.
By comparison Messi inspired Argentina’s third World Cup triumph, scoring seven goals, including two in the 4-2 penalty shootout win against France in the final after a 3-3 draw through extra time.
Ronaldo and Messi have had their achievements compared throughout their careers.
Messi’s World Cup win saw him emulate soccer greats Pele and Diego Maradona by lifting the sport’s biggest prize.

To many, it will also have given him the edge in his personal rivalry with Ronaldo. And at the age of 35, he still has time to further embellish his career in top level soccer.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has earned headlines in recent months for his antics away from the field.
He was dropped and made to train away from United’s first team when refusing to come on as a substitute in a game against Tottenham in October.
He then conducted an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticized manager Erik ten Hag and United’s owners the Glazer family.
It led to the termination of his contract, his eventual move to Al Nassr and the next chapter of his career away from the glare of top flight European soccer.
