Mid-range Smartphone
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G Review: What’s special about it?
OnePlus Technology, the subsidiary of OPPO, has steadily expanded to include midrange and budget devices in its product line. The Nord CE series were the perfect mid-range with the Lite being their budget offering. This year, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G was released on April 11 2023 in China with a subsequent global release. The CE 3 Lite successes the CE 2 Lite with some interesting developments. Let’s have a look.
Key Features of OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite
Design and Build Quality
The OnePlus Nord CE 3 is a through-and-through budget device. The build material may reflect on that but rest assured, the CE 3 Lite is a well-built hefty device at 195 gm. The phone has a glass front, plastic frame, and back with a glossy finish to emulate the glass-back design. The front glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Nord CE 3 Lite moves away from the design elements of its predecessor, the CE 2 Lite. Instead of dual tone back with a separate camera housing, users will be getting a flush glossy back with two protruding camera sensors, much like the iPhone 12.

However, the quirk is somewhere else. Users would be surprised to see that even though there are two camera cutouts on the back, the official spec sheet mentions triple camera setup. That is because one of the camera cutouts, specifically the bottom one, houses two camera sensors. It’s a unique design choice that helps to keep things minimal at the back.
Coming to ports and buttons, the volume rocker and the sim tray are situated on the left of the device with the power button being on the right. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner on the Nord CE 3 Lite.
Being a budget device, the headphone jack is also present on the CE 3 Lite, right beside the Type C charging port. A single-firing speaker also finds its place at the bottom. The top of the device is flush with just the secondary noise cancellation mic for better call clarity.

Overall, the design is a slight move towards minimalism from the CE 2 Lite. Whether that is a good thing or bad remains subjective.
Display
The display on the Nord CE 3 Lite is an IPS LCD one. The choice of LCD panel is understandable given the budget it comes at. However, the lack of an AMOLED panel is somewhat made up by the 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. The panel boasts around 550 nits of typical brightness with 680 nits of HBM. Though these aren’t industry-leading stats in any way, it's still decent for its price.
Speaking of quality, the panel is exactly as you’d expect LCDs to be. The blacks aren’t deep black and there are some color shifts in extreme angles. Other than that, the smooth scrolling and accurate color recreation make for a compelling and interactive experience.

Camera
The Nord CE 3 Lite features three cameras on the back. The main camera is a whooping 108 MP one with the complementing two sensors being a 2 MP macro and depth sensor. It’s clear that the 108 MP sensor is the key player here as it will be doing all the heavy lifting.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition: Enter the Magical Wizarding World
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 12 Turbo edition was released on March 28, 2023 in Mainland China. On the same day, Redmi also released a Harry Potter Special limited-edition version. Let’s check out what the Harry Potter fans will get in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition.
Key Features of Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition
Design
Much of the specialty of this edition has to do with the unboxing experience itself. Users would get a chunky box with the special edition, much like those large magic spell books seen in the movie.
Opening the fold, users will be greeted with the iconic Hogwarts acceptance letter received by Harry. It’s the same as the original complete with wax sealing. The included SIM ejector tool has been branded with the nine-three quarter sign and the user manual is designed just like the Marauder’s map. It's these little things that make the unboxing experience such a magical one.
Moving onto other stuff, users will be getting a charging brick, cable, and a designer case with faux leather finishing. There are also some classic Harry Potter stickers for the geeks.

Now let’s talk about the device itself. Dimension wise the device is exactly the same as Redmi Note 12 Turbo. But the magic is happening at the back. There’s a lot to take in from the centaur, sorting hat, Quidditch game, quill to the broom, and of course, the ever-magical Hogwarts logo. The motto of the school, “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus” is printed brightly on the emblem. And if it ever crossed as to what it means, it stands for “Do not tickle the sleeping dragon”.
There is also the Redmi special edition branding on the bottom and the Harry Potter typography at the top. The camera sensors have been cheekily designed to represent Harry’s spectacles complete with his lightning scar.
Overall, the design and the unboxing experience of the Harry Potter special edition will be absolutely magical, to say the least. For any Potterhead or a general enthusiast, this device would definitely be a collectible piece worth admiring.
The Display
The display on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is a 1080P OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support. As mentioned earlier, there is no dimension or spec difference between the special edition and the regular version of the Note 12 Turbo. So enthusiasts will also be getting the same specs.

The panel itself is decent. It has that typical Xiaomi warm tone to it which can easily be calibrated from the display settings. The viewing angles are pretty good and the high refresh rate makes it a delight to interact with. Overall, the display is easily one of the strong features of the Note 12 Turbo.
The Camera
The goggle-designed camera on the Note 12 Turbo special edition actually has three lenses. The main camera is a 64 MP wide-angle shooter with an 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro shooter. It's clear from the spec that the main camera will be doing all the heavy lifting.

Overall, the Vivo V27e is a stunning device that you would want to showcase with a clear case. It comes with a transparent case, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a 66W charger adapter, a SIM ejector tool, and some paperwork.
Display
The Vivo V27e boasts a large 6.62-inch AMOLED screen with moderately sized bezels, providing a maximized display that is neither too thin nor too thick. Samsung Galaxy A54 5G Review: Worth the price tag?
Samsung is the true undisputed king of providing smartphone options at every price point. Though this South Korea-based tech conglomerate works in diverse industries, the smartphone lineups brought them an immense reputation. They bring a mix of the latest specs and features in a value-for-money package. And it especially holds true for their premium mid-range devices, the A series smartphones. The latest in the lineup, the Samsung A54 5G was globally released on 24th March. Here’s a detailed take on the device.
Key Specifications of Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
Design and Build Quality
The design of the A54 is reminiscent of its predecessor the A34. Samsung doesn’t really bring many cosmetic changes in their mid-range devices as the A series has had a consistent design for quite a few years now. The most prominent change is on the front display with the A54 comes with a punch-hole panel instead of the waterdrop notch found on the A34. Other than that, the back is the same with a glossy finish and a triple vertical camera sensor.
The aluminum body is sandwiched between glass panels. This year, the IP rating is at 67 meaning the device isn't completely waterproof, but rather dust and water-resistant. Though Samsung claims that the device will be fine for 30 minutes to under 1 meter of water.
Read More: Laptop Buyer’s Guide: How to choose the right one
The ports and button selection are as usual. The power and volume buttons are strategically positioned on the right. The sim slot is on the left. Samsung has opted for a hybrid sim slot where users will be able to swap the second sim for a micro SDXC.
Weighing 202g its dimensions are 158.2 by 76.7 by 8.2 mm. This device might feel heavy to handle with one hand.
Rest everything is what’s expected from Samsung. A solid-built device that justifies the price.
The Display
The display is mostly the same as last year. Samsung has opted for a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It offers 1080 by 2340 pixels of resolution featuring a 19.5:9 ratio and about 403 ppi density. Furthermore, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Read More: Xiaomi 13 Lite Review: Is this semi-flagship phone worth consideration?
The display is a tad smaller than the last generation which might not sound like an ideal choice. But given the pixel concentration and the overall smaller footprint of the A54, this move seems to have played in Samsung’s favor. The PPI has gone up and the chin bezels are even thinner, giving the device an almost uniform bezel design.
Moving onto the display itself, the typical Samsung magic is evident from the get-go. The display is crisp and bright with some tight viewing angles. Samsung has been a market leader in panels and it's easy to say that the display on the A54 is the best in its price category. This year Samsung has also bumped up the HBM to 1000 nits making it even more legible under direct sunlight.
Overall the panel will make for an impressive device interaction no matter what it is used for.
The Camera
The camera sensor has been updated for the new model. Usually, the main sensor is the one that gets updated in incremental releases. But for the A54, Samsung has updated both the main and the ultrawide sensor to 50 MP and 12 MP respectively. The 5 MP macro sensor remains the same.
Read More: Vivo V27 Pro Review: Does this Mid-Range Device Worth Attention?
Speaking of quality, it’s pretty similar to last year. Samsung has significantly upped its post-processing algorithm. Pictures look sharp and contrasty with decent dynamic range in each shot. One way to summarize would be that there are no bad shots with the A54, it consistently delivers similar results.
The videography is rated at 4K at 30 fps max. 4K won’t rival the big brother S23 but it produces a semi-decent result. Additionally, there’s a 32 MP front-facing camera as well. And as typical of Samsung, it produces decent wide-angle shots. Though the photos might feel overprocessed in dimly lit conditions.

Vivo V27 Pro Review: Does this Mid-Range Device Worth Attention?
The budget to mid-range market has always been saturated with options. Notable brands like Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and many others hurl multiple releases each year in these segments. While Vivo doesn’t release all too many, their singular offering often becomes the market standard. Just like the Vivo V27 Pro. Launched on 1st March 2023 in India, the V27 Pro generated quite a buzz because of its internals and price. Let’s find out the specs, pros and cons of Vivo V27 Pro.
Key Specifications of Vivo V27 Pro
Design and Build Quality
Like every year, there is also a complete overhaul with the V27 Pro. The device is considered to be the successor of the hugely popular V25 Pro. While the front of the device appears to be completely similar, the noticeable changes are on the back. This year, there are new color options along with changes in the camera hardware and setup.
Other than that, everything seems to be carried on from the last year. There is the gimmicky color changing back which is sure to turn eyes.

Weighing 182g the dimensions of this device are 164.1 by 74.8 by 7.4 mm. Users will also be getting glass front and back just like last year. Being a mid-range device, the glass protection on the front and the back aren’t rated.
The camera housing has been updated to be much larger and rectangular than the previous generation. The flashlight has also been updated to a ring-like shape. It looks pretty cool and futuristic from a design standpoint.
The usual ports and buttons are all there. There’s a dual nano sim slot on the device. Unfortunately, Vivo seems to have been done with the micro SDXC support on their mid-range devices. There’s no headphone jack on the device either.
Overall, there are some welcome changes in the design department of the V27 Pro. Other than that, you’re getting a similar build quality and features which is a pretty good thing from a price perspective.

The Display
The display has had a boost from the last generation. Not much on the quality side but rather on the size. The display is up to 6.78 inches from last year’s 6.58-inch panel found on the V25 Pro. The display offers 1080 by 2400 pixels resolution, 20:9 ratio and about 388 PPI density.
The panel is an FHD+ AMOLED, HDR10+ one with a 120 Hz refresh rate. From the spec sheet, the panel is all guns blazing, and rightly so. The quality of the paper also reflects in everyday use. The HBM and 1B color support make everything on the panel crisp and sharp. The viewing angles are amazing no color distortion whatsoever. Vivo also seems to have reduced the bezels around the sides for a near-seamless experience.
Whether it’s gaming or simply consuming media, the display on the V27 Pro is easily up with the big players like Apple and Samsung.

The Camera
The camera on the V27 Pro is a triple module one with the main camera being a 50 MP shooter. Rather than being a complete gimmick, the additional two sensors are also quite capable with an 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro shooter.
The 50 MP might seem like a downgrade from the 64 MP found on the V25 Pro. But Vivo is using a more updated sensor on the latest model.

realme 10 Pro 5G Coca-Cola Edition Review: A Coke Lover’s Dream Phone
realme has acquired reputation by bringing a unique combination of innovation, spec, and price for the users. Their feature-packed devices and affordable price tag attract customers from all bases. In this legacy realme released the 10 Pro 5G Coca-Cola edition on 10th February 2023 globally. It's realme’s signature device with a twist of Coca-Cola fizz and flavor. Here’s our detailed take on the phone.
Key Features of the realme 10 Pro 5G Coca-Cola Edition
Design and Build Quality
The design takes the center stage in the limited edition realme 10 Pro 5G. If you’re buying the device from China, it’ll come in a large commemorative box complete with a realme memento made in collaboration with the signature Coca-Cola red theme.
If you’re getting the retail box, you’ll still get a great deal of stuff inside other than the device itself. There’s a Coca-Cola-themed message and card outlining the limited serial number of the device. realme even tweaked the sim card ejector tool to make it in the shape of Coca Cola glass bottle cap.

Moving onto the design of the device itself, the front appears to be just like the standard 10 Pro. However, the entire Coca-Cola collaboration is evident on the back. There is a half-cut Coca-Cola signature on the back in the traditional white-on-red drape. The other third of the back is matte black vertical to the camera housing. The camera module also gets two distinct red bands around the sensors to make the collaboration even more prominent.
All the ports and buttons are standard from the realme 10 Pro 5G. The 3.5 mm headphone jack stays on for another generation, being placed right beside the USB Type C port. The power button which also doubles as the fingerprint scanner is placed on the right side of the device along with the volume rockers.
Overall, the unique appeal of the limited edition is on full display on the back. If you’re planning to flaunt the device, we suggest you go caseless or go for a clear case option.

Display
The Display on the realme 10 Pro 5G is an IPS LCD one. Considering the price of the device, the choice of a 6.72-inch IPS LCD is understandable. The panel is an FHD+ one with sharp and vivid colors. It’s resolution is about 1080 by 2400 pixels. Even though it is an LCD panel, realme has done an amazing job at tweaking the panel for vibrancy.
The high peak brightness and the 120 Hz refresh rate also enhance the display quality further. We tested the normal brightness to be around 600 nits with the HBM kicking it up to 680 nits under direct sunlight.
The high refresh rate and the vivid colors make the 10 Pro an ideal media consumption device. We can guarantee you, the display interaction with this device would be top-notch for the budget.

Design
The Galaxy A14 5G retains some design features from its predecessor, such as the vertically aligned triple camera sensors with LED flash on the back. However, the build quality has been significantly improved, with a premium look and feel that provides sturdiness when held.
The fingerprint ridge-like texture offers a great grip, repels fingerprint smudges, and saves time cleaning the back panel. The light green model has been noted for its effectiveness, but it's unclear if the other colors have the same feature. The phone includes a 3.5mm audio jack, offering high-quality audio through wired earphones. However, the earphones need to be purchased separately.

The display is an essential feature of any smartphone. It can significantly affect the user experience, and Samsung understands this. The Galaxy A14 5G display is impressive, with a PLS LCD panel that offers excellent brightness levels and energy efficiency. While IPS displays are known for better viewing angles and color accuracy, PLS displays are better in other aspects.

Xiaomi POCO X5 Pro 5G Review: Mid-range Phone with Flagship Features
POCO is a sub-brand of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi that was launched in 2018. POCO aims to offer high-end specifications at a lower price point than Xiaomi’s flagship devices, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. The ‘POCO X’ lineup is the brand’s flagship line of smartphones that are known for their powerful processors, high refresh rate displays, large batteries, and attractive designs. POCO launched X5 Pro 5G on February 06, 2023, in India. Let’s see POCO X5 Pro’s features and price.
Key Features of POCO X5 Pro 5G
Read on to get a detailed review of X5 Pro.
Design
Despite looking distinct from the Poco X4 Pro, the Poco X5 Pro bears a clear resemblance to its predecessor. Its design features flat sides, a flat rear panel, and a flat screen, giving it a slab-like appearance that is shared by other smartphones, such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Xiaomi 12 Lite. These comparisons are significant as these devices share many similarities.
Although the POCO X5 Pro’s chassis seems to be made of metal and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the back panel is constructed of plastic.
Read More: Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Turbo Review: What’s special about it
In keeping with convention, the camera module is positioned in the top left corner, with the branding placed alongside it against a black background, creating the illusion that the module is much larger than it really is. POCO has worked with the same design approach that it used with the X4 Pro, though with a different orientation.
The POCO X5 Pro is quite large, measuring 76mm in width and 7.9mm in thickness, which is further accentuated by its flat sides. Its dimensions make it unwieldy for one-handed use, and it is not an ideal choice for individuals with smaller hands.
Although POCO claims that this is the thinnest phone in its X-series lineup, with the X4 Pro measuring 8.1mm in thickness, it is unlikely that you will be able to detect the 0.2mm difference between the two models.

Design
Given its low cost, the phone's sleek and sophisticated appearance will surprise you. Beginning with the device's back panel, it has the realme logo in the bottom left corner, two inner camera islands in the top left corner, and a flash next to them.
One of the round islands comprises a single main sensor while the other includes two sensors. When exposed to an adequate quantity of light, the back panel of the handset has a glossy surface with a pleasing pattern-like reflection.

The fact that the rear panel is fingerprinted and smudged serves as a deterrent. This necessitates the use of a protective cover to prevent smudges from appearing on the phone. With its curved display, realme outperforms all of its rivals in the same price range.
The device's very small bezels were one of its distinguishing features. Combining the ultra-symmetrical curvy front and back layout with side bezels as tiny as 1.41mm and a bottom bezel as small as 2.33mm produces a bezel-free viewing experience.
Dimensions of the realme 10 Pro plUs is about 161.5 by 73.9 by 7.8 mm or 8 mm. Weighing 175g the device appears comfortable to handle. The smartphone is available in three different color options: Dark Matter, Hyperspace Gold, and Nebula Blue.

Display
The realme 10 Pro+ offers a 6.7-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 by 2412 and a pixel density of 394ppi. Due to its inherent 10-bit color depth, the new AMOLED boasts a faster refresh rate of 120Hz and can show over one billion colors. Gamers will like the 360Hz touch sensitivity, while the HDR10+ certification will facilitate video streaming.
In addition, 800 nits of peak brightness are offered, which significantly improves the viewing experience even in direct sunlight. The curved display makes multimedia consumption on the device more enjoyable.
The panel is very well-tuned since it displays beautiful colors with a wide dynamic range and excellent contrast. If you wish your colors to be amplified, the HyperVision option under settings includes both Video Color Boost and Video HDR Boost. The first one consumes more battery power as it attempts to expand the color spectrum of SDR content.

It is available through a few mobile applications. The Video HDR Boost increases brightness and improves the HDR viewing experience while watching HDR videos. Obviously, it also increases power consumption.
Camera
The rear of the realme 10 Pro Plus has three cameras. The main rear camera of the realme 10 Pro+ is a 108MP (f/1.8) Samsung (S5K) HM6 1/1.67′′ sensor with 0.64m pixels and a Nona-Pixel color filter. While the number of megapixels has increased since the previous model, realme has eliminated Optical Image Stabilization, which affects handheld photos taken in low light.
The other two back cameras consist of a 2MP (f/2.4) macro lens manufactured by OmniVision and an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera with a Sony sensor.

The main back camera captures 12MP images that are adequate out of the box. The camera has captured acceptable levels of contrast, color, and detail. If you're curious about the dynamic range, it is neither poor nor exceptional.
Surprisingly, the 16MP (f/2.5) front sensor performs well in both low-light and bright-light environments. It captures well-exposed selfies with precise color reproduction. The information are rather vague, but still sufficient for social media sharing.
Performance
The realme 10 Pro Plus is powered by a MediaTek MT6877V Diminutive 1080 CPU 6nm with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. There were no delays or overheating difficulties when using the phone. The processor is combined with a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.

Application switching seems silky smooth with a fast refresh rate and respectable effectiveness. However, increasing the parameters to high has a noticeable impact on the performance. In addition, the device boots the realme UI 4.0 operating system based on the Android 13 operating system. It is one of the few non-Google phones that launch Android 13 out of the box.
The software has several features, such as always-on-display, fingerprint, themes, scanning animations, media technology controls, and dynamic widgets. There are choices such as Dual Mode audio, Heart Rate, Sleep Capsule Measurement, etc. The prevalence of bloatware on the realme gadget is one of the biggest software downsides to be aware of, despite the fact that the device's feature set is flawless.
Battery
The realme 10 Pro+ is powered by a battery that has a capacity of 5000 mAh and allows rapid charging at 67 watts. The amount of power that it used from the battery was pretty optimal. The gadget lost between 8% and 10% of its battery life when viewing YouTube videos at the maximum quality setting for an hour. While running intense games, the usage increased to 14% per hour.

Conclusion
The realme 10 Pro+ defies expectations for a mid-range smartphone simply because of its appearance and display. The ultra-wide camera and bloatware-filled user interface hold it back, but the realme 10 Pro+ seems like a promising device.
