Two brothers killed in clash over land in Rajshahi
Two cousins were killed during a clash over a land dispute at Charghat upazila in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Azizur Rahman alias Aziz, 45, son of Dedar Hossain, and his paternal cousin Akram Hossain, 60, son of Jeker Hossain from Bankra Paschimpara village in the upazila.
A clash with locally made sharp arms began on Saturday afternoon over a land dispute and more people from the both groups joined later, said Pranab Kumar, Senior Assistant Superintendent of police (Charghat circle).

Eight people from both groups were injured in the clash and were taken to upazila health complex where the duty doctor declared Aziz and Akram dead.
“The bodies have been sent for autopsy while other injured are being treated at the hospital, '' said ASP Pranab Kumar.
He said police have visited the area to take control of the situation and legal actions will be taken in this reagard.

Lightning kills 2 brothers in Sunamganj
Two brothers died while another sustained injuries after being struck by lightning in Sunamganj district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Khokon Mia and Jhilon Mia, residents of Bekhoijura village in Dharmapasha upazila, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dharmapasha police station.
The tragedy occurred in the morning when the three brothers went to catch fish in Shaldigha Haor on a boat, said locals.

“Two brothers died on the spot and another was hurt. Locals later recovered the bodies,” said OC Mizanur.

Jashore brothers electrocuted to death
Two brothers were electrocuted to death in Jashore's Bagharpara upazila Wednesday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Towhidul Islam, 42, and his younger brother Ruhul Amin, 38, of Raipur union of the upazila.

"Ruhul came into contact with live wires while cutting hay for cows with a machine at his home. Towhidul was also electrocuted as he rushed to save his brother," Firoz Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bagharpara Police Station, said.
The brothers were taken to Jashore General Hospital and declared dead upon arrival, he added.

3 brothers to hang for killing uncle in Cox’s Bazar
A Chattogram court on Sunday sentenced three brothers to death in a case filed over abducting and then killing their uncle by slitting his throat in Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
The court sentenced another brother to life imprisonment and acquitted one more accused from charges during the hearing.
Chattogram divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Mozammel Haque passed the verdict during a hearing.

The death row convicts are Abu Bakkar Siddique, Yunus Manik, and Ibrahim Mostafa Kaiyum, sons of Nurul Ajiz from Maganpara village in Badarkhali union of the upazila.
The lifer is their brother Md Sohayet.
The court also fined Tk 50,000 each to the death row convicts and Tk 10,000 to the lifer.
Except Abu Bakkar Siddique, all the others were sentenced in absentia, said Public Prosecutor of the court Ayub Khan.
On June 30, 2016, victim Nurul Huda, then president of the union faction of Awami League, was at a tea stall in Badarkhali Bazar and commented, “All the war criminals will get hanged one by one”.

Abu Bakkar got into an argument with Huda over the comment, and abducted his uncle later assisted by other accused in an auto-rickshaw and killed him.
On July 2, 2016, a case was filed at Chakaria police station following a complaint by Nurul Huda’s son Mohammad Shahjahan.

4 brothers killed in Cox’s Bazar road crash, 5 injured
Four brothers were killed as a pickup van knocked them down on Cox’s Bazar-Chatogram highway in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Anupam Shil, 47, Nirupam Shil, 45, Dipak Shil,40 and Champak Shil, 30, sons of late Suresh Chandra Shil of Dulahazra union in Chakaria upazila.

Their five siblings injured in the accident are Plabon Shil,22, Raktim Sharma, 33, Sharan Shil, 24, Hira Shil, 32,and Munni, 30.
The accident occurred at 5 am near Memorial Christian Hospital at Malumghat area in Chakaria when the nine siblings were crossing the road, said witnesses.
The pickup van hit them when they were returning home after offering prayers for their father in a nearby temple, leaving all injured.

Local people rescued them and took them to a local hospital where doctors announced the four dead, said Safayat Hossain, In-charge of Malumghat Highway police station.
The pickup van has been seized and efforts are on to arrest the driver, he said.

Two brothers attacked in Chattogram, one dies
A 40-year-old man was killed while his brother sustained serious injuries when a group of assailants attacked them with sharp weapons in the district's Hathazari upazila Friday night.
Police and family members of the victims attributed the attack to a financial dispute pertaining to a local madrasa in the Kala Badshahpara area of Mirzapur union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Hossain Elahi, 40, son of Lotu Mistri. His brother, Momen Elahi, sustained serious injuries in the attack.
According to locals, the two brothers were having tea at a tea shop in the area when the assailants suddenly fired at them and then attacked them with sharp weapons.

The two seriously injured brothers were rushed to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex from where they were shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Hossain died of his injuries at 10.30pm.
Mohsin, the brother-in-law of the deceased, said the attack came in the wake of a financial dispute at the local madrassa.
Hathazari Model Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said that "efforts are on to nab the accused".
