Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) said on Friday that they arrested 31 members of an organised snatching gang from several areas of the capital on  Thursday night. A team of the battalion led by its Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed conducted  drives in the capital’s Matijhel, Shahbagh, Sabujbagh, Paltan,  Jatrabari and Bangshal on Thursday night and arrested the snatchers. Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members have detained 37 members of a mugging gang from different areas in the capital. A team of Rab-3 detained the muggers after conducting simultaneous drives in Shahjahanpur, Motijheel, Mugda and Tejgaon areas on Saturday night, said Additional Superintendent of Police and staff officer (Media) Bashir Ahmed. During primary questioning, the alleged gang members said they used to mug passengers at bus stands and railway stations in the city spraying sedatives on their face and brandishing sharp weapons. Legal steps will be taken against the detainees, the officer added.

Members of RAB have arrest 4 members of a mugging gang from the city’s Khilgaon area. The arrestees are Md Rifat, 20, Md Dipu, 19, MD Santo Siddik, 22, and Md Pervaz. They were arrested on Sunday at around 9.40 pm over a tip-off, read a RAB media release. During the primary interrogation the gag members confessed that they have been actively mugging mobile phones, jewelry, cash money etc from the people in the Khilgaon, Rampura, Banashee area for a long time.
