Mother, son among four killed in B'baria road accidents
Four people, including a woman and her son, were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar and Sarail upazilas of Brahmanbaria district on Friday morning.
According to local and hospital sources, Kawsar Mia, a resident of Bahadurpur village in Kasba upazila, was travelling towards Sarail Bishwa Road with his wife and children in a CNG-run autorickshaw.
On the way, a fish-laden pickup van hit it from behind in the Biyallishwar area of Ramrail union in Sadar upazila on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway around 8:30am, leaving autorickshaw driver Mahbub, 45, passenger Josna Begum, 40, and her five-year-old son Ashraful dead on the spot.
Kawsar, 50 – Josna’s husband – and their daughter Adiba, 4, were injured in the accident.
The injured were first taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital and later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station Md Abu Taher Dewan said police were sent to the spot after receiving information.
However, the pickup driver and his assistant managed to flee immediately after the accident.
In a separate accident, a man was killed in a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-run three-wheeler in the Bariura area of Sarail upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 6:00am.
The deceased was identified as Md Oli Mia, 55, son of Haji Mohammad Idon Mia of Boribari village under Panishor union of the upazila.

Mother, son run over by train in Tongi; family alleges ‘suicide’
A mother and her two-year-old son died after being run over by a train in Gazipur’s Tongi on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Jannat, 35, and her son Junaid, 2. Jannat lived with her husband near Teesta Gate. She was the daughter of Imam Hossain of Balerhat village under Kaliganj police station in Lalmonirhat district.
Tongi Railway Police Outpost chief Sub-Inspector (SI) Rahima Akhter said a Dhaka-bound Subarna Express train from Chattogram ran over them on Saturday.
The family alleged that Jannat had a fight with her husband on Friday night and left the house with Junaid on Saturday morning. They claimed that she later committed suicide by jumping in front of the train.
SI Rahima said the bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for postmortem, and a case of unnatural death (UD) will be filed at Kamalapur Railway Police Station.

Fatal level crossing: Mother, son killed as train hits human hauler in Faridpur
A 26-year-old woman and her minor son were killed when a train hit a human hauler at Sriramdia in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Lima Begum and her seven-year-old son Imran of Sadardi area in the upazila.
Habil Hossain, officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda Police Station, said the Rajshahi-bound ‘Madhumoti Express’ train from Bhanga crashed into the human hauler amid rain, leaving its two passengers dead.

The train dragged the three-wheel vehicle for almost a kilometre from the point of impact.
Takdir Hossain, Faridpur Railway Station Master, said the human hauler got stuck on the rail track while trying to cross it during rain.

Mother, son killed in Pabna road accident
A woman and her son were killed when a truck hit their bike in Dashuria area of Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Mamtaz Begum, 60, and her son Mahatab Uddin, 35, of Islamganti village in Dapunia union of Pabna Sadar upazila.

Confirming the matter, Pakshi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Bashar said the duo were travelling towards Pabna around 3:05pm. When they reached Kalikapur bazar, a goods-laden truck hit their bike, killing the mother and son on the spot, the OC added.
