Police recovered the body of a young man from a hotel room in the city early Monday. The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, alias Babu, son of Lokman Fakir of Harintana Auto-stand Road in the Labanchara Police Station area. Police recovered the body at around 4:30am from Room No. 10 on the second floor of Kapotaksha Residential Hotel on Khanjahan Ali Road under Sadar Police Station. Police detained a woman named Fatema in connection with the incident. Lokman Hossain Ripon, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said Babu and Fatema checked into the hotel around 7pm on Saturday, identifying themselves as husband and wife. The OC said Babu had a wife living in Dhaka, with whom he had no contact. He had been in a long-term relationship with Fatema, who had allegedly been pressuring him to marry her. He said Fatema initially confessed that she strangled Babu with a scarf during an argument on Sunday night.  The OC added that the body would be handed over to the family after completing due procedures.

The body of an unidentified youth was recovered from Dalia canal at Jotraghu village in Dinajpur district on Saturday, said police. Local people spotted the body floating in the canal and informed police who recovered it at noon, said Subrata Kumar Sarkar, Officer-in-charge of Chiribandar police station.
