BPL Football begins Thursday
Twelve-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, the country's most prestigious football competition, begins Thursday at two venues near capital Dhaka.
The eleven- round first phase matches will be held from February 3 to March 19/20 in two venues adjoining the capital-- Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Bangladesh Football Federation earlier decided to arrange the BPL matches in three venues including Bashundhara Sports Complex, but the venue was finally excluded as Bashundhara authority wants to make it home venue with Sheikh Russel KC.

In the opening match, defending champions Bashundhara Kings will play newcomers Swadhinata Krira Sangha at 3 pm at the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi.
In the other opening day's fixture, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play Uttar Baridhara Club also at 3 pm at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
On the following day ( Friday), Dhaka Abahani Ltd will face Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at 3pm in Tongi while Saif Sporting Club will encounter Bangladesh Police FC at 3 pm in Munshiganj.

Earlier, the logo unveiling ceremony and captain's meet of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football was held on Sunday (Jan 30) at a local hotel.
