This is to mark the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 102nd birth anniversary and National Children's Day, authorities have said.

"The entry to the park is free, but visitors will have to pay the charges fixed for separate events inside the park," said the director of the safari park, Rezaul Karim.
The safari park entry fee is Tk 50 for adults and Tk 20 for children above five years. Some 4,500-5,000 people visit the park daily.
Meanwhile, a doa mahfil and milad will be held at the mosque of the park after Zohr prayer seeking salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.

The 102nd anniversary of the birth of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is being observed across the country on Thursday.
Marking the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tributes to Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32 in Dhaka this morning.

Former in-charge booked over zebra deaths at Gazipur safari park
The former in-charge of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park has been booked in connection with the deaths of 11 zebras in January this year.
An FIR was filed against Tobibur Rahman under the Animal Welfare Act at the Sreepur police station in Gazipur on a complaint from his successor Rafiqul Islam.
In his complaint, Rafiqul claimed that his predecessor failed to promptly inform his seniors about the deaths of the zebras at the park between January 2 and 29.

Tobibur also didn't file a complaint following the deaths of the animals at the local police station and his decision to cut open the stomachs of three dead zebras was not acceptable, according to Rafiqul.

This has caused harm to national wealth and cruelty to the animals for which the FIR was filed under the Animal Welfare Act by the police against the accused, said Rafiqul.
Earlier, three officials -- the project director, the veterinary officer, and in-charge of the park -- were removed from their posts to ensure an impartial investigation into the deaths of the animals.
So far this year, 11 zebras, one lioness and a tiger have died at the park.

Gazipur safari park animal deaths: One more official shunted out
Another official of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur has been shunted out as the probe into the recent animal deaths continues.
Md Sarwar Hossain Khan, the wildlife supervisor of the park, was transferred, and Md Helim Rayhan, the wildlife ranger of Rajshahi, has been appointed in his place, said Dipankar Bar, senior information officer of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Earlier, three officials -- the project director, the veterinary officer, and in-charge of the park -- were removed from their posts to ensure an impartial investigation into the deaths of the animals.

So far this year, 11 zebras, one lioness and a tiger have died at the park. Of them, 10 zebras died between January 2 and 24.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has already formed a five-member committee to find out the cause of the zebra deaths and fix accountability. It has been given 10 days to submit a report.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the park and collected samples for tests at its laboratory.

Safari Park animal deaths: Minister promises strict action against anyone found involved
Exemplary actions will be taken against anyone found involved or responsible for the recent deaths of animals at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin made the remark on Sunday during a visit to the Safari Park.
The minister said a five-member probe body has been formed already and they have been given 10 days to submit a report.

“In the neutral probe if anyone or their irresponsibility is found liable for the death of animals at the Safari Park the ministry will take exemplary measures against them and will bring them under law,” he said.
Shahab Uddin said the deaths of so many animals in such a short period is very saddening.
Regarding the developments in thwe investigation, the minister said already the body parts of the deceased animals have been sent to different labs and the Safari Park authority is consulting specialist doctors to prevent such deaths.

Now African lioness dies at Gazipur Safari Park
An African lioness died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur on Thursday.
The death was reported when mystery shrouded the deaths of 10 zebras in the park within a span of one month.
The lioness aged around 11 years had been suffering from illness since August last year and it breathed its last at 1 am on Thursday, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
It was given treatment by the park’s veterinary officer after regular consultation with Dr ABM Shahidullah, former curator of National Zoo in Mirpur and Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Alam, director of Surgery and Obstetrics department of Veterinary Teaching Hospital under Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
The condition of the lioness kept worsening and it deteriorated further on Wednesday afternoon as its whole body started shivering, said Dr Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Veterinary surgeon who treated her.

Ten zebras died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Parkin in a space of one month till Saturday. Nine of the earlier population of 22 zebras at the park died between January 2 and 24, according to the park authorities.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change formed a five-member inquiry committee to find out the cause of the zebra deaths and fix accountability. It has been given 10 days to submit the probe report.
Project director Md Zahidul Kabir, assistant forest conservator and in-charge of the park, Tabibur Rahman, and vet Dr Hatem Sazzad Md Julkarnine were removed from their positions and transferred by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change n the wake of the deaths of the animals in the park.
