PM inaugurates month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (January 21, 2024) inaugurated the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BBCFEC) at Purbachal.
Five foreign countries -- Turkey, India, Pakistan, Singapore and Iran -- alongside local companies are taking part in the 28th edition of the fair where exhibitors will showcase products. Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, is also participating in it.
The Prime Minister also declared Handicrafts Products as the product of the year for 2024.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mahbubul Alam and vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) AHM Ahsan were also present on dais.

The fair will continue from January 21 to February 20. The Ministry of Commerce and the EPB have been organising trade fairs since 1995.
The DITF usually commences on 1 January each year. However, the EPB postponed the fair due to the 12th national elections held on January 7.
The trade fair will run from 10 am to 9 pm daily and to 10 pm on weekends. The entry fee is Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children. Freedom fighters and the physically challenged people need no fee.
BRTC buses have been arranged from Farmgate and Kuril Biswa Road to the fair premises for the convenience of general visitors.

A total of 330 stalls have been allotted along with 23 pavilions and 27 mini pavilions.
There will also be 15 food stalls of different categories which can accommodate up to 500 people.
There are also a prayer room, children's playground, media corner, office rooms, medical rooms, guest-rooms for officials, and stores.
The parking area can provide facilities for 500 vehicles.

DITF 2023: Walton scoops up 'Best Innovation,' 'Best Electronics Stall' awards
The 27th edition of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) drew to a close Tuesday.
Walton won the "Best Innovation" and the "Best Electronics Stall" awards at the DITF.
The awards were handed over to Walton representatives at the concluding ceremony of the DITF at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal yesterday.
Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi attended the function as the chief guest. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries Senior Vice-President Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu were also present.
Walton deputy managing directors Eva Rizwana Nilu and Md Humayun Kabir received the crests and certificates.
Forty-seven organisations were awarded in 14 categories at the 27th DITF.
The fair's organisers – the commerce ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau – introduced the innovation award at this year's DITF for the first time.

Walton showcases advanced, sustainable IoT smart products at DITF 2023
Walton is showcasing eco-friendly, advanced and sustainable internet of things (IoT) smart products, including smart refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, home and kitchen appliances, silent and durable robust compressors; laptops and mobile phones with the latest features, e-bikes, elevators and other artificial intelligence (AI)-based household products.
Walton's 'Inverna (Extreme Saver)' series AC, which received a 5.5-star energy rating from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution, is on display at the fair, the company said.
This AC has frost clean, air plasma, three-in-one converter technology, smart control and various advanced technologies.
At Walton Pavilion, visitors can see the electricity consumption of Walton Inverna ACs.
Walton AC Research and Innovation Department head Ariful Islam said: "The input power of the Inverna (Extreme Saver) series 1 ton AC is 690 watts. That means a maximum of 690 watts of electricity will be required to run this AC."
"If the user runs this AC in Eco mode for eight hours every day, it will consume only 106.8 units of electricity per month. According to the residential electricity rate, the bill will be Tk526 for the whole month and Tk2.19 per hour."

RFL showcases products 6400 products at DITF 2023
Business conglomerate RFL is showcasing 6,400 products, including 120 new ones, at its two pavilions at the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2023.
The group is also offering 10-35 percent discounts on the purchase of products, said a media statement Thursday.
The first floor of the three-storey RFL Pavilion is showcasing household products, stationery, melamine, small toys, kitchenware, and medical equipment. Furniture, large toys and bicycles are available on the second floor.
All the construction materials including cables, pipes and fittings are available on the third floor of the pavilion.
The month-long DITF began on January 1 at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in the capital's Purbachal.

Walton gets best electronics stall award in DITF-22
Electronics brand Walton has received the 'best electronics stall award' in the just concluded month-long 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2022).
The DITF organizers-Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB)- gave away the award to Walton for setting up eye-catching and beautiful stall at this year’s expo at the conference room of Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre at Purbachal on Monday.

At the DITF, Walton has also secured the best tax payers award for the last 14 consecutive years.
Walton DMD Md Humayun Kabir said, "This year, the DITF has been organized in the format of China's Kunming Fair, one of the largest international fairs. Conforming to the international trade fair, this year Walton only showcased its state-of-the art technologies and innovative featured products."
In the DITF-22, both the domestic and international visitors praised Walton's innovative design and featured smart fridge, google certified smart TV, voice-controlled inverter technology Smart AC, VRF AC, smart table, laptops and computers, he added.
"And thus, Walton received about US$10 lakh worth of spot order from the foreign buyers at the fair. In January, Walton registered a total of US$23 plus export orders," said the DMD.
Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi handed over the award’s crest to Walton Research and Innovation Centre’s Head Engineer Tapash Kumar Mojumder and Refrigerator's Chief Business Officer (CBO) Engineer Anisur Rahman Mallick.
They also received award certificates from Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s President Md Jashim Uddin, who attended the event as special guests.
Among others, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, EPB Vice-Chairman AHM Ahsan, Walton's Deputy Managing Director Humayun Kabir and Media Adviser Enayet Ferdous were also present at the function.

IBBL inaugurates stall at DITF
Islami Bank Bangladesh (IBBL) has inaugurated a stall at the Dhaka International Trade Fair 2022 in Purbachal's Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre.
Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director and CEO of the bank, inaugurated the stall.
Along with providing modern banking and information services to visitors, customers and traders, it is also collecting government revenues – value added tax (VAT), tax and other fees – through the automated challan system (ACS).

Merchants can deposit their VAT, Tax and other fees of daily transactions at this stall through this system.
The services at the stall include account opening, cash deposit and withdrawals through CRM and ATM booths.
IBBL has been providing banking services to buyers and visitors since 2012 at the Dhaka International Trade Fair.

Dhaka International Trade Fair kicks off at Purbachal
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday inaugurated the 26th edition of Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) declaring ICT products and services as the “products of the year 2022”.
The largest annual commercial and trade event of the country is being held at its permanent venue – “Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre '' – at Purbachal on the outskirts of the capital for the first time.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the fair virtually from her official residence Ganobhaban.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi presided over the function jointly organised by the Commerce Ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin and Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) AHM Ahsan also spoke at the event.
This year a total of 225 stalls, including 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions, 160 stalls and 15 food stalls, have been leased out to various local and international organisations.
The venue will feature a prayer room, children's play area, office rooms, medical rooms, guestrooms for officials and store rooms.
Previously, it used to be held at Agargaon but it was too small to accommodate the large number of participants and visitors.
The gate of the international trade fair will open at 10 am every day and close at 9 pm. On government holidays, the fair will run till 10pm. Ticket price for the adults has been fixed at Tk 40 while at Tk 20 for minors.
The government will provide a transport facility as 30 BRTC buses have been pressed into service in this regard. These will run from Kuril flyover to the fair venue from 8am to 10pm every day. Visitors will be able to travel in these buses with a minimum fare of Tk 30.

DITF 2021 to be held in March at new state-of-the-art venue
Aiming to attract more foreign businesses and customers, the 26th edition of Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2021 is going to be held in March this year at its newly built permanent venue, the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFC) in Purbachal, instead of January at the previous venue in Agargaon in the capital.
