BPL Football: Robinho's penalty secures the 3 points for Bashundhara Kings
Captain Robson Robinho saved defending champions Bashundhara Kings to drop important points in the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2021-22 beating Sheikh Russel KC by 1-0 goal at the-Bashundhara Sports Complex here on Monday.
Newcomers Swadhinata KS made the biggest upset in the league upsetting last two times champions Bashundhara Kings by 1-0 goal in the league opener.
In the day's match, Kings dominated the match all through, specially in the first half and they did everything except scoring a goal till 82nd minute.
When the injury-ravaged Kings were struggling for goal till the last few minutes, then their Brazilian striker cum captain Robinho came to rescue them from an awkward situation scoring the match-winner in the 83rd minute from a penalty (1-0).
The Kings got a controversial penalty in the 80th minute when their captain Robson Robinho fell down on the ground in a ball-possession clash with Russel defender Nasir Chowdhury and the match referee pointed his finger for a spot kick that stopped the match for more than one minute.
With the day's hard fought victory, the Kings, who were deprived of the season's first two major soccer trophies--Independence Cup and Federation Cup, smartly took a solo lead in the league table securing 15 points from six matches.

Six times champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd followed them neck and neck with unbeaten run securing 13 points from five matches, playing one match less than the Kings while Sheikh Russel KC remained at 8th place with five points from six encounters.
In the day's other match, three-times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club split points with traditional Dhaka Mohammedan SC as their match ended in 1-1 draw at the Bir Shreshtho FL Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Both the goals were scored in the first half.
Gambian striker Solomon Kings Kanform put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 32nd minute while Malian forward Souleymane Diabate leveled the margin for Mohammedan in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2 minute).
After the match, Sheikh Jamal DC remained at the 3rd slot in the league table collecting 12 points from six outings while the traditional black and whites Mohammedan also remained at the 5th slot with nine points from six matches.
