When it comes to the premium mid-range section of the smartphone market, Xiaomi has been the absolute dominating force. The company makes some of the best mid-range devices and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is a testament to that. The phone has been announced along with the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ scheduled to be launched in India on 9th March 2022. So, is this slated to be the next budget king? Or is it just another run-off-the-mill device from Xiaomi? Let’s find out. Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Key Features Design and Build Quality Even though there has been a considerable buzz with the device for some time, the phone fails to live up to the hype. Especially in the build quality. The phone has a glass front and back which already sets it up to be a premium-looking device. However, the plastic frame all around is a complete letdown. Moreover, the plastic isn’t that durable and it gets scratched or dented easily. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 which is a nice touch. The right of the device features the power button and the volume rocker. The power button also doubles as a fingerprint authenticator here. The left of the device is left completely flush. An exciting aspect of the Redmi Note 11 Pro is the JBL collaboration. The stereo speakers on the device are tuned by JBL and the branding is clearly on the top mic of the device alongside the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The bottom of the phone houses the main speaker, the Type C port, and the hybrid sim tray which supports a dedicated micro SDXC alongside the two sim slots. But it definitely could’ve been better on the build quality spectrum. Display Xiaomi has always provided some of the best display experiences in a budget segment. The Redmi Note 11 Pro is no different as well. The phone features a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display. The spec alone should tell enough regarding the viewing experience. It is just as crisp and sharp as expected. The median 700 nits brightness along with the 1200 nits peak brightness makes for an impressive outdoor viewing experience. The display might not feel as profound as the Samsung Super AMOLED panels. But there aren’t any blue tint or color shifts here. Also, the display supports HDR 10 content so streaming services can be fully utilized. The f/1.9 aperture camera can take some impressive shots which becomes even more apparent when developed from the raw file. Why raw file? The sad truth about camera lenses is that a higher MP count doesn’t really translate to better images. Much of it is determined by post-processing as well. That is why Redmi cannot achieve with a 108 MP sensor what Pixel can with a 12 MP one. But critical aspects aside, the lens is still a very capable one. The sensor can capture a decent amount of dynamic range keeping the subject in focus. The color might feel like on the cooler side but that too can be post-processed with editing software. There is an additional 8 MP wide-angle shooter along with a 2MP macro lens. The ultrawide lens can take decent images with a wide subject base. For a powerful main sensor, the videography is limited to just 1080P at 30 fps. The reason will be discussed in the next point. The selfie camera is the standard 16 MP one as seen on other similarly priced Xiaomi devices. It gets the job done without doing anything out of the box. Processor and Performance The global variant of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, the one being reviewed in this article is significantly different from the one available in the Chinese market with the same name. And that’s especially apparent on the processor end. The Chinese variant features MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor which provides flagship-level performance. Part of the reason why videography is limited on the global variant. But the 6 Nm architecture also packs some punch. It features an octa-core setup with 2 2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold and 6 1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver chips coupled with Adreno 619 GPU. So, how’s the gaming on this device? Pretty decent. Users will be able to play all the leading 3D titles without any hiccup or frame drops. But that comes at the cost of heating. The device gets really hot really fast. But the device manages to hold onto performance regardless. Day-to-day tasks like browsing the web and social media are a breeze in the park. Battery and Charge Time The battery on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is a 5000 mAh one. However, Redmi changed the charge game with their 67 W fast charging feature. The phone can charge up to 50% in 15 minutes and a full 100% in just 42 minutes. The numbers are insane and definitely the fastest in any price bracket. Price of Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G in Bangladesh The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is not officially available in Bangladesh yet. The price of the device in India is expected to be 24,490 INR for the 8/128 GB variant. The price translates to 27,963 BDT (1 INR = 1.14 BDT). However, the price may be different in Bangladesh depending on different factors like supply, tax, and company policy. Verdict So, who is this device for? Pretty much anyone looking for a performance-oriented device that ticks some additional boxes. There is a smooth display, amazing battery life, fast processor, and decent camera.
