A 9-year old child who sustained severe burn injuries in an air conditioner (AC) blast in Jatrabari area of Dhaka on September 20 succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning. With this, the death toll from the explosion rose to two. Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Tanvir breathed his last around 7am while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit. He suffered 45 percent of burns.  Tongi Fire: Shop employee succumbs to burn injuries Earlier on Wednesday, his father Tuhin, who was also injured in the blast, died while undergoing treatment with 47 percent of burns at the High Dependency Unit of the institute.     On September 20, four members, including the duo, of the family were burnt in the AC blast and rushed to the hospital’s emergency department. Tanvir’s mother Eva Akter, 30, and younger brother Tauhid, 7, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Two people sustained severe burn injuries in an air conditioner (AC) blast in an apartment at Dhaka’s Niketan area early this morning (March 4, 2023). The injured are 28-year-old Gopal Mollick and 20-year-old Mizanur Rahman.  Rashed Bin Khalid, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said the AC might have exploded from an electric short-circuit, on the fifth floor of the six-storey building on road 6 in Niketan around 6:15 am, leaving the duo critically injured.  Read more: Gas explosions took 82 lives in 3 years in Narayanganj, threats remain: Police, fire service On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire around 6:53 am, he said.    The injured were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, he said.   

A couple was killed and three other members of their family were injured when an air-conditioner exploded at a house at Chander Bari in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi district early Saturday. The deceased were identified as Forkan Hawladar, 45, son of Zohr Ali and his wife Mahinur Begum, 40. Getting no response from the inmates of their house of till Saturday noon, Selim Hawladar, brother of Forkan, went into the house and found them wounded. Two more victims of Narayanganj mosque blast succumbed to their injuries at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute on Thursday taking the death toll to 31.

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd has formed a 5-member committee to investigate whether gas leakage in pipelines sparked fire and subsequent AC blasts at a mosque in Narayanganj.

A man was killed while 40 others suffered burn injuries as the air conditioners of a mosque exploded during Esha prayers in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Friday night.

Moazzem Hossain Nannu, a crime reporter of Daily Jugantor and former secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (Crab), who sustained burn injuries in a fire incident at his residence in the city’s Aftabnagar early Friday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday morning.
