2 burnt in AC blast at Dhaka’s Niketan area
Two people sustained severe burn injuries in an air conditioner (AC) blast in an apartment at Dhaka’s Niketan area early this morning (March 4, 2023).
The injured are 28-year-old Gopal Mollick and 20-year-old Mizanur Rahman.
Rashed Bin Khalid, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said the AC might have exploded from an electric short-circuit, on the fifth floor of the six-storey building on road 6 in Niketan around 6:15 am, leaving the duo critically injured.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire around 6:53 am, he said.
The injured were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, he said.

Couple killed in Jhalakathi AC blast
A couple was killed and three other members of their family were injured when an air-conditioner exploded at a house at Chander Bari in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi district early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Forkan Hawladar, 45, son of Zohr Ali and his wife Mahinur Begum, 40.

The explosion occurred in the dead of night, leaving the couple and three others–Mainul 14, Sara, 3 and Mahfuza Begum, 30 injured, said Shyamal Dey, officer-in-charge of Rajapur Police Station.
Getting no response from the inmates of their house of till Saturday noon, Selim Hawladar, brother of Forkan, went into the house and found them wounded.

Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared the couple dead.
