I am absolutely delighted to work with Robi to promote its network excellence and digital prowess to the country."

The batter is also Bangladesh's highest century maker in international matches with 25 centuries, combining all forms of cricket.

ENG vs NZ First Test 2022: England Seize Control of Series Opening Match
England have gained control of the ENG vs NZ first Test 2022 at Lords at the end of day three. With five wickets in hand, the hosts just need 61 runs to win the match. England are hoping to win the match without losing any more wickets with Joe Root and Ben Foakes at the crease. Though, given the way the match has gone so far, another twist is likely on day 4. Let's have a look at the scenario for the first Test match between England and New Zealand.
First Test Match Scenario between England and New Zealand
New Zealand's regular captain, Kane Williamson, has returned to the Test team for the England series after missing numerous international matches owing to an elbow injury. On the other hand, leg-spinner Matt Parkinson and medium pacer Matthew Potts made their debuts for England. Additionally, this is the first series for both newly appointed Test captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. Here is the ENG vs NZ first Test 2022 current match situation.

New Zealand’s First Innings
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat first in order to put some runs on the board. However, the pitch was perfect for the pace bowlers to finish two innings on day 1. The English pacers exploited the pitch extremely well and picked up 6 wickets for 39 runs at lunch.
New Zealand tried to make a comeback with a 41-run partnership between Colin de Grandhomme and Tim Southee for the eighth wicket. Their stand helped the visitors get past the 100-run barrier. The New Zealand batters were in an aggressive mood in the post lunch session and that helped them score some quick runs.
They were eventually bowled out for 132 in 40 overs. Colin de Grandhomme remained unbeaten on 42*, while England's veteran James Anderson and newcomer Matthew Potts each took four wickets.

England’s First Innings
Unfortunately, England couldn’t take full advantage of their good work with the ball. Like the Blackcaps, the hosts also suffered a batting collapse in their first innings. They lost 7 wickets on day 1 for 116 runs. It took New Zealand only 6.5 overs in the first session of day 2 to pick up all of England’s wickets for 141 runs. England only managed to take a 9-run lead in the first innings.
Openers Alex Lees (25) and Zak Crawley (43) gave England a good start by putting up 59 runs between them. But after their departures, England’s innings fell apart, and they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Tim Southee picked up 4, while Trent Boult got 3 wickets for New Zealand.

New Zealand’s Second Innings
The pitch became a bit easier to bat on day 2. New Zealand once again found themselves in big trouble at the beginning of the innings. They lost 4 wickets for 56 runs. However, a magnificent 195-run stand between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell for the fifth wicket took New Zealand's total to 251 runs. Blundell made 96 runs, while Mitchell made a century with 108 runs.
New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 285 runs after giving England a 277-run target. Stuart Broad and Matthew Potts picked up three wickets each for England.

England’s Second Innings
England started their chase in the first session of day-three and they tried to attack the Kiwi pacers from the beginning of the innings. Like in the first innings, the openers gave a solid start for England. But the hosts also saw a dramatic collapse in their second innings, losing 4 wickets for 69 runs.
Joe Root and skipper Ben Stokes then repaired the innings with a 90-run stand between them on the fifth wicket. Ben Stokes lost his wicket to Kyle Jamieson after scoring 54 runs. Root (77*) and Foakes added 57 runs for the sixth wicket before the end of the day’s play, taking the total to 216.
The pair will come on to bat on day 4 to chase down the 277 run target. Kylie Jamieson has been superb in the second innings for New Zealand. He has already picked up four wickets for the visitors.

Verdict
The English team is still in danger of losing the ENG vs NZ first Test 2022 after losing five crucial wickets. Besides, this particular pitch at the Lords is doing the bowlers a big favour. The batters have struggled to shine on this surface because of this. However, batting is becoming more comfortable in the second innings, which is an optimistic sign. With two days remaining, England must be watchful and calm in their pursuit of the winning target. Oppositely, New Zealand bowlers will have to give it their best to take all of England's wickets. That's the only way they will be able to win the game.

Siddons backs Shakib as captain
Jamie Siddons, the batting coach of Bangladesh, believes Shakib Al Hasan would be a great captain for Bangladesh in Test cricket.
When Shakib became the captain of Bangladesh for the first time in 2009 in West Indies after then-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was injured, Siddons was the head coach of the Tigers.
And Bangladesh are now all set to tour West Indies again with Shakib taking the role of the Test captain.
The former head coach and the current batting coach of Bangladesh said he found at least two positive things.
Read: Shakib Al Hasan's Captaincy Record in Test Cricket: An Overview
“There are at least two sides of benefits with Shakib being the captain,” Siddons said on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. “Shakib is a regular performer, and now he is the captain. So it will be easy for him to lead the team. And the other thing is it will be easy for Mominul (Haque) to focus on his batting.”
Shakib has previously led Bangladesh in 85 matches and won 33 of them. At Test level he has led the team on 14 occasions, winning 3 of them.
In the upcoming series against West Indies, Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

Shakib Al Hasan's Captaincy Record in Test Cricket: An Overview
Mominul Haque met with BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon last week to inform him of his decision to step down as Test captain. The left-handed batsman was hesitant to remain as Bangladesh's Test captain despite the BCB chief's requests. With only one week until the West Indies tour, the BCB had to move fast to appoint a new Test captain. The BCB named Shakib as the new Test captain on Thursday (June 2) following a meeting with the ace all-rounder. Litton was also promoted to vice-captain. Shakib was a successful Test skipper for Bangladesh in the past. Shakib Al Hasan’s performance as Test captain is discussed in this article.
Shakib Al Hasan’s Test Cricket Career as Captain
Shakib made his Test debut against India in 2007, and two years later, in the second Test against the West Indies, he led Bangladesh for the first time in the absence of Mashrafe Mortaza, who was injured. The Shakib-led side triumphed by four wickets and sealed the series 2-0. After that, Shakib went on to captain Bangladesh for seven more games before Mushfiqur Rahim took over. In 2018, the ace all-rounder returned to lead Bangladesh and remained captain until 2019. He was released from the role following a one-year ban by the ICC in late October 2019.

Shakib Al Hasan has captained Bangladesh in 14 matches so far, and the team has won three and lost eleven. All of his victories as captain have come against the West Indies, two at home and one away. Interestingly, Shakib Al Hasan will captain Bangladesh again against West Indies, like he did the previous two times.

Bottom Line
One of the reasons Mominul Haque resigned as captain was because he couldn't focus on his batting due to the added pressure. Shakib Al Hasan's performance as a player while serving as skipper is outstanding. Shakib has a solid record with both the ball and the bat while captaining the Bangladesh Test team. Shakib has also led Bangladesh to the best winning percentage in Test cricket. Therefore, the BCB made the suitable decision in selecting Shakib Al Hasan as Bangladesh's next Test cricket captain.

Mitchell, Blundell combine to thwart England at Lord's
An unbeaten stand of 180 between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell put New Zealand in control against England after two days of the first Test at Lord's Friday.
Coming together with their side at 56-4 – just 47 runs ahead – Mitchell and Blundell moved the Black Caps 227 runs ahead by stumps.
Mitchell ended the day on 97 not out, three short of a well-deserved century at the home of cricket, with Blundell 90 not out in an imposing total of 236-4.
Their partnership was an exemplary display of calm accumulation, with the pitch flattening out and the home attack unable to whip itself into action.
A day after 17 wickets fell, seven were added to the tally, and New Zealand looked like repeating their horrible start Thursday. Will Young, captain Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Devon Conway all went out to nicks to leave their side 56-4 inside 23 overs.
Mitchell and Blundell then settled in for what could go down as a match-winning stay.
They shut down England's vastly experienced James Anderson and Stuart Broad and showed impressive debutant Matthew Potts that Test cricket was not quite as simple as he might have thought.
Potts removed Williamson for the second time in two days and took his match tally to six but was ineffective after lunch.
New captain Ben Stokes was expensive at more than five an over, and there was an inconclusive first look at the team's first concussion substitute Matt Parkinson.
Having raced down the motorway from Manchester to replace Jack Leach Thursday afternoon, the leg-spinner finally got his long-awaited chance and got a little bite from the pitch, but the batters' initial struggles to find their timing against him soon disappeared. Potts sent down 14 wicketless overs for 43.
England earlier climbed from 116-7 overnight to 141 all out, Tim Southee finishing with four wickets, and fast-bowling partner Trent Boult three.
The slender nine-run lead left England little margin for error, but Anderson, Potts and Broad once again set a superb tone by sharing the first four wickets.
The afternoon session finally saw the game revert to something approaching a regular Test match rhythm, as New Zealand dug in to add 90 for the loss of just one wicket, Conway's.
Mitchell cut and pulled well, showing enough intent to allow Blundell to find his feet at a quieter pace.
Stokes' introduction raised the run rate, despite some prodigious reverse swing, and when Parkinson finally got his hands on the ball, New Zealand were 90-4.
England's hunt for a breakthrough began to labour.
Blundell successfully played catch-up and beat his partner to the first half-century of the match, getting there in 101 balls with a compact square drive off Potts.
Mitchell did not have to wait long to follow, getting there with a nudged single off Broad, and it was increasingly apparent the game was being shaped by two cool-headed knocks.
There were pockets of activity, with five boundaries in the space of three overs as Mitchell took on Anderson and Blundell did the same to Broad, but it was the methodical manner and chanceless application that impressed most.

Litton Das Reaches 12, Highest Ever Test Ranking in Career
Litton Das's excellent consistency with the bat was rewarded with a career-high rating of number 12 in the ICC rankings. He was ranked at 12 in March, but he has improved his rating points this time. Litton's 12th place finish and 724 rating points are the most in Bangladesh cricket history. Tamim Iqbal formerly held the top ICC Test batting rankings of 14 and the best 709 rating points among Bangladesh players. Let's look at the top Test ranking scenarios for Bangladesh players.
Litton Das's Rankings Scenarios since 2021
Litton Das was not even among the top Test run-scorers before 2021. He scored 762 runs in 31 innings and was ranked 70th until 2020. A new confident version of Litton Das emerged when Bangladesh resumed international cricket in January 2021. His performance in the longer-version format has been particularly impressive in the last year and a half.

The right-handed batter has scored 1,152 runs in 22 innings with an average of 52.36 since last year, putting him among the top three run-scorers in the world in Test cricket. Litton's rating has risen significantly because of his steadiness with the bat. He has climbed to the 12th spot after a tremendous leap. Furthermore, the rating points have surpassed 700. Litton Das's ICC Test batting rankings are broken down into quarters.

Other Important Test Ranking Scenarios for Bangladeshi Players
Shakib Al Hasan has stayed in fourth place in the Test rankings in the all-rounder category. The ace all-rounder can enhance his present position if he shows great consistency during the upcoming West Indies trip. Shakib has 327 rating points, which is only 58 points less than Ravindra Jadeja, the top-ranked player. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz has remained in 17th place despite missing out on the Sri Lanka series.
Read Bangladesh vs West Indies Series 2022: Full Fixtures and Squads
The left-arm spinner, Taijul Islam holds the highest ranking among Bangladeshi bowlers. He is now in 27th place with 603 rating points, while Shakib Al Hasan is in 29th place with 593 rating points. After two fantastic hundreds against Sri Lanka, Mushfiqur Rahim has increased his rankings among the batters. He is now ranked 18th with 675 rating points. Tamim Iqbal's place has dropped in the rankings. He has dropped to the 32nd position with 577 rating points.
Bottom Line
If Litton Das continues to excel with the bat in the forthcoming West Indies series, he has a chance to improve his Test batting rankings even further. Litton might be one or two fifties away from becoming the first Bangladeshi to break into the top ten. If he can do that on the West Indies tour, it will undoubtedly be a tremendous achievement for him. Furthermore, both Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have a chance to enhance their all-rounder and batting rankings respectively. Besides, if Bangladesh's team is to win the series against the West Indies, they must be well prepared.

Shakib re-appointed as Test captain
Star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has been re-appointed as the Test captain of the Bangladesh cricket team. He will now take over the charge from Mominul Haque who recently said he is not willing to continue in the role after the recent failure in the series against Sri Lanka at home.
While Shakib is appointed as the new captain, Liton Das, the wicketkeeper-bater will play the role of his deputy. Liton has previously led Bangladesh in T20I as an interim captain in New Zealand.
This is the second time when Shakib is set to lead the Tigers in Tests. In his first tenure, he led Bangladesh in 14 Tests and won three matches with 11 defeats.

The allrounder also led Bangladesh in 71 limited-over matches.
Shakib was removed from the captaincy in 2019 when he was banned for two years, with one year suspension, due to failing to report corrupt approaches made to him. After that, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had appointed Mominul as the captain of Test team.

Who Can Replace Mominul Haque as Bangladesh Test Cricket Captain?
Bangladesh Test cricket captain, Mominul Haque, has realized that he has failed to motivate the team. The left-handed batter met with BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon on Tuesday (May 31) to discuss his role in the Test team. Mominul told the BCB president that he no longer wanted to captain the Test side and instead wanted to concentrate on his batting. However, Nazmul Hasan informed the media before the meeting that he didn't want Mominul to leave the role. Let's have a look at the potential replacements for Mominul Haque.
The Potential Candidates to Replace Mominul Haque as Bangladesh Test Cricket Captain
Appointing a captain for Bangladesh's Test team may not have been as difficult as it is now a few years ago. Senior players are nearing the end of their careers, and a few of them are reluctant to participate in all formats of the game. Picking the right person to fill the shoe in such a scenario is a challenging task. However, the BCB has no option but to choose one, and it must do so with a long-term vision. Let's see who the finest candidates are for Bangladesh Test Captain.
Shakib Al Hasan
Given the current circumstances, Shakib Al Hasan seems to be an ideal replacement for Mominul Haque. He was the captain of the side before being banned by the ICC in the year 2019. Shakib wasn’t considered for the role after returning to the national side and has been playing as a key member of the squad. Shakib’s record has been the best among the Bangladesh Test captains. As captain, he has the best winning percentage of 21.42 percent.

However, the ace all-rounder has the habit of skipping bilateral series, especially in the last five years. Reportedly, the BCB’s first choice is Shakib Al Hasan, but it depends on his commitment and desire to captain the Test side.
Tamim Iqbal
The BCB may turn their focus on ODI captain Tamim Iqbal if they fail to reach an agreement with Shakib. Right now, Tamim’s focus is to build an ideal squad for the ODI side and make the Bangladesh team a competitive one for the 2023 World Cup. In quest of that, Tamim has been doing well so far. That is why the left-handed batter may not be so keen on taking the role. However, there is no doubt that Tamim would be a perfect fit for the role.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Many consider Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the next Test captain of Bangladesh. But at the moment, he may not be an ideal choice given the fact that many senior players are still playing the longer-version format. He has the potential to lead Bangladesh, but at the moment he is suited to the vice-captaincy role.
Litton Das
Appointing Litton Das as Test captain can be a suicidal decision. Litton is in the form of his life at the moment as he has been one of the top run scorers in the Test format since 2021. Giving Litton the leadership role could put him under immense pressure, which could possibly affect his batting performance. However, many want the board to give Litton a chance to lead the Bangladesh Test side. Will the BCB take the risk and hand over the post to Litton? On top of that, Litton has to convince everyone that he is ready to lead the team.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Mushfiqur has led Bangladesh in 34 matches, most by any captain. Under his leadership, Bangladesh have won seven matches, most by any captain. He has the second-best winning ratio, at 20.58 percent. Mr. Dependable made two brilliant hundred in the latest series against Sri Lanka. Everything is perfectly matched for Mushfiqur to take the role. Then why doesn’t BCB consider him a potential replacement in the first place? Mushfiqur was ousted from the post in 2017 because the board did not believe in his development as a leader. However, the BCB may consider him as well if everyone steps back to take the role.

Verdict
The BCB has been put under pressure as a result of Mominul Haque's decision to resign as Bangladesh Test cricket captain just ahead of the upcoming away series. Because the West Indies tour is rapidly approaching, the BCB must move quickly to appoint a new Test captain. With the future in mind, the BCB will hopefully name a new captain who is fit to lead Bangladesh Test cricket forward.

Mominul reluctant to continue as Test captain; informs BCB
Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque has said he is reluctant to continue in the role.
He made the revelation after attending a meeting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan on Tuesday evening, in remarks to the media.
"I'm not willing to continue as the role of the Bangladesh Test captain. I've told it to the BCB president. Now the board will decide who they offer the role," Mominul said.
“I think I could not inspire the team to do well and could not contribute well to the team. At this stage, I think it is best for me to give up the captaincy and focus on my batting. I have said all these to the BCB president,” Mominul added.
BCB had recently asked Mominul to 'have a think' about whether he wants to continue as the captain of the Bangladesh Test team.
“He needs to decide what is the best for him,” Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the cricket operation department of BCB, told the media recently. “When you don’t get runs as a captain and batter, the pressure gets heavier.”
However, Russell Domingo, the head coach of the national team, had said that he would like to rely on Mominul’s captaincy more. But he agreed that Mominul has been out of form for a while, and he has to work harder to get his old form back.
READ: Cricketer Mominul on verge of losing captaincy
Mominul got only one fifty in his last 15 Test innings; remarkably, in 12 of those innings, he failed to reach 10 runs. It is an abysmal run of form for someone who had come to be known as the dependable one in the Test batting line up.
Bangladesh played a total of 17 Tests under the captaincy of Mominul and won only three of them. Bangladesh lost 12 of the other matches with only two draws. Undoubtedly the high point of his leadership was the triumph against world Test champions New Zealand in Mt Maunganui earlier this year, en route to a creditable drawn series away from home.
But the diminutive left-handed batsman always gave the impression that he was struggling to impose himself or his vision, if he had one, on the way the team went about its business on the field. That shouldn't take away from the fact that he always had a tough job on his hands.
After all, not only was he hamstrung by limited resources at his disposal - he also had to strike a delicate balance handling the senior players - put bluntly, the vaunted Big 5 and some of their egos - he had to lead, most of them former captains in some format themselves.
Bangladesh failed to win any match in the recently-concluded two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home. They ended the first match in a draw in Chattogram and in the second match, they endured a 10-wicket defeat in Dhaka.
This series was a part of the ongoing cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. After this recent failure, Mominul’s captaincy came under scrutiny once again.
After the series against Sri Lanka, BCB president Nazmul Hasan had a meeting with Mominul. It was not clear what they have discussed in that meeting. But the inside sources of BCB said that the meeting was about the future of Mominul as Bangladesh’s Test captain.
Bangladesh’s next international assignment is in the West Indies. The board has already announced the squads for this tour. Mominul is named the captain of the Test team.
Now, after Mominul cleared the air about his captaincy, the onus is on the board to appoint a new captain ahead of the West Indies tour. The board is yet to say anything about the Test captain till Tuesday evening.
Some media reports suggested that the allrounder Shakib Al Hasan might be appointed as the next Test captain of Bangladesh. However, neither the BCB nor Shakib Al Hasan has said anything about it.
Bangladesh team is scheduled to play a two-match Test, three-match ODI and three-match T20I series in West Indies.

Bangladesh vs West Indies Series 2022: Full Fixtures and Squads
The Bangladesh national cricket team will travel to the West Indies in June to play a bilateral series against the host Caribbean side. Bangladesh will play three series: Tests, One-Day Internationals, and Twenty-20 Internationals. The Test series will be part of the ICC's Test Championship, whereas the one-day series will not be part of the Cricket World Cup Super League. The Twenty20 International series will serve as a warm-up for the impending Twenty20 World Cup 2022. Take a look at the Tigers' Test, ODI, and T20I squads, as well as the full Bangladesh vs West Indies Series 2022 schedule.
Bangladesh's Squads for the West Indies Tour 2022
Bangladesh will play the West Indies in a two-match Test series during their next tour. In addition, the three-match ODI and T20I series will be crucial in helping them improve their current rankings.
Bangladesh have a chance to leapfrog West Indies in the Test Championship points standings if they whitewash the hosts in the series. The Tigers are in the eighth position with 16.67 percent, while the West Indies are in the seventh position with 35.71 percent. So, the Mominul Haque-led Bangladesh Test team should come up with a better strategy in order to unsettle the Caribbean side. Despite this, the visitors will face a monumental task given their recent Test performances. In addition, Mominul Haque’s performances both as skipper and batter have been under the radar.

The selectors picked five pacers, including Mustafizur Rahman, for the Test series. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam were both dropped due to injury, while off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz returned to the squad. Apart from that, veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim made himself unavailable to take part in the Hajj pilgrimage.
Bangladesh Test Squad
Mominul Haque (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Yasir Ali, Mosaddek Hossain, Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hassan, Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, Shohidul Islam, Rejaur Rahman Raja
Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh ODI side has been doing well in recent times. Under his leadership, the Tigers recently beat the Proteas 2-1 in an ODI series away from home. So, the expectation is really high from the ODI side compared to the other two formats. Bangladesh did win a bilateral ODI series in the West Indies in 2018 and there is no reason why they wouldn’t be able to repeat the same in the upcoming series.
