Kim Kardashian to star in ‘Bratz’ movie as villain
Kim Kardashian is being eyed to play the villain in Amazon MGM’s “Bratz” movie.
The tech giant won a bidding war for rights to the live-action film about the popular children’s toy in hopes of backing the next “Barbie.” Additional details about the plot and cast haven’t been revealed.
Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are writing the script, while Erik Feig and Julia Hammer for Picturestart, Kardashian, and Jason Larian and Jasmin Larian for MGA Entertainment are on board to produce. MGA’s Isaac Larian will executive produce, reports Variety.
Ever since “Barbie” took the world by storm and became 2023’s highest-grossing film with $1.44 billion, Hollywood has been mining all kinds of children’s toys for the big screen.
Film versions of Hot Wheels, Barney, Polly Pocket and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots are currently in the works across various studios and production companies.
Denis Villeneuve to direct next James Bond film
Bratz has sold more than 200 million dolls since 2001 and apparently has the highest social media engagement across all platforms of any toy brand, according to Amazon MGM. However, it’s unclear if that’ll translate into blockbuster ticket sales.
Bratz has been the subject of Lionsgate’s 2005 live-action movie, which flopped at the box office, as well as a several TV series and video games.
Kardashian is the star of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and businesswoman behind the loungewear company Skims. She’s been cutting her teeth in the world of scripted entertainment, recently starring in “American Horror Story” alongside Emma Roberts and voicing characters in two “PAW Patrol” movies.
On the horizon, she’ll lead the Netflix comedy “The Fifth Wheel” from director Eva Longoria and will appear in Ryan Murphy’s new drama “All Is Fair.”

Denis Villeneuve to direct next James Bond film
Denis Villeneuve is going from “Dune” to Bond.
Amazon MGM Studios announced Wednesday that Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond movie. The untitled film will be the first since the studio took creative reins of the storied film franchise after decades of control by the Broccoli family.
Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman had maintained that before the next Bond is cast, they would develop a screenplay and find a director first. According to AP, now they have one of the most respected blockbuster makers in Hollywood, who's coming off a pair of widely acclaimed “Dune” films.
In a statement, the 57-year-old French Canadian filmmaker said he grew up watching Bond movies.
“I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” said Villeneuve. “I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.”
Since taking creative control of Bond in February, Amazon MGM has worked quickly to get the next movie going. The studio is also trying to win over fans skeptical of the new corporate leadership and the fearful of future spinoffs.
“James Bond is in the hands of one of today’s greatest filmmakers,” said Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.
The Family Man Season 3: Manoj Bajpayee returns, Tamil star joins cast
With Pascal and Heyman lodged as producers and Villeneuve behind the camera, the next Bond movie will have an enviable brain trust. Villeneuve beat out a field of directors floated for the movie including Edward Berger ("Conclave"), Paul King ("Paddington 2"), Edgar Wright ("Baby Driver") and Jonathan Nolan, co-creator of “Westworld” and brother to Christopher Nolan.
“Denis Villeneuve has been in love with James Bond movies since he was a little boy," said Pascal and Heyman. “It was always his dream to make this movie, and now it’s ours, too.”
No release date has been announced for the next Bond movie. Villeneuve will shoot the third “Dune” film this summer. If production on Bond began next year, a release sometime in 2027 would be likely.
Villenevue's first two “Dune” films have together surpassed $1 billion in box office worldwide and been nominated for a combined 15 Academy Awards, winning seven. His other films include “Blade Runner 2049,” “Arrival,” “Sicario,” “Prisoners,” “Enemy” and “Incendies.”
Amazon bought MGM Studios in 2022 for $8.5 billion, but didn't gain creative control of the studio's most prized asset until this year. Until this film, every Bond director has been handpicked by the Broccolis.

Sitaare Zameen Par Day 5 Box Office: Aamir Khan's film remains steady, surpasses Laal Singh Chaddha’s India collection
Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par continued its steady performance at the domestic box office on its fifth day, matching Monday’s earnings of ₹8.50 crore on Tuesday (June 24). Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film’s consistent run in urban centres, noting on social media, "Sitaare Zameen Par maintains a steady grip at key urban centres on its first working day, following an excellent weekend. Monday’s figures look strong when compared to Friday, but given the sharp rise over the weekend, a double-digit Monday would’ve been ideal."
Directed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, Dolly Ahluwalia, and ten debutant neurodivergent actors in key roles.
In a review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, stating, "Sitaare Zameen Par blends humour, emotion, and the high energy of a physically demanding sport to portray the resilience of the human spirit in the face of physical, psychological, and societal challenges."
With a strong five-day total and consistent weekday earnings, Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to maintain momentum as it enters the second half of its opening week.

Shakib Khan slams piracy, praises audience support at special screening of ‘Taandob’
Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the audiences for rallying behind his Eid-ul-Azha release ‘Taandob’ despite its early piracy, and vowed strong stance against piracy in the industry at the special screening of the film held on Sunday night at Star Cineplex’s Sony Square branch in the capital.
Shakib joined the cast and crew to watch the film alongside his co-actress and the debutant Sabila Nur, the film’s producer Shahriar Shakil, director Raihan Rafi, co-producer and Chorki CEO Redoan Rony, and the rest of the cast and crew of the film, journalists and renowned media personalities.
Despite being one of the most hyped films of this Eid, ‘Taandob’ fell victim to online piracy just a week into its release. However, audiences across the country have continued to flock to theatres, rejecting pirated copies and demonstrating strong support for local cinema.
Addressing the press before the screening, Shakib Khan condemned the piracy, calling it a deliberate attack on the country’s cultural progress. “A vested quarter circulated pirated copies of 'Taandob', yet our audience has given a bold response; they said no to piracy and came to theatres to watch the film, and I’m truly grateful for this love,” he said.
Ali Fazal Exclusive: "Mirzapur Is Only Growing, I'm Glad People Connect With It"
Calling cinema one of the most powerful cultural mediums, Shakib expressed concern over the repeated targeting of major local releases. “We’ve seen this before with films like ‘Borbaad’, and now ‘Taandob’ which was pirated just within a week. It’s clear that when a film starts to succeed globally, it’s being sabotaged,” he added.
Despite the setback, he noted that ‘Taandob’ continues to run housefull shows at many theatres, calling it a sign of the growing awareness and loyalty among Bangladeshi moviegoers.
“We must all be vocal against piracy. The way audiences are showing up even after the leak proves we’re united. With this support, we’ll push back against those trying to destroy our film industry,” Shakib said.
He also thanked law enforcement for arresting three individuals allegedly involved in the piracy. “They’ve taken quick action, and investigations are ongoing to find the main culprits. Those who act against our cultural interests must be held accountable,” he stated.
Speaking at the event alongside Shakib Khan, producer of the film Shahriar Shakil remarked, “The audience has rejected pirated versions and embraced the theatrical experience. That is the strongest message we could hope for.”
According to the Facebook-based Bangla Movie Review-BMR, ‘Taandob’ has made a grand total of 9.05 crore taka in 16 days, and Shakil also announced the film as a ‘Blockbuster’ at the special screening.
‘Taandob’ is a joint production of SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Ltd and OTT platform Chorki, with support from Deepto TV. The story of the film revolves around an attack made on a private television channel which leads to unfold several socio-political issues such as unemployment, exploitation of power, enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing.

(My hair in Tere Naam is inspired by Abdul Kalam sir, even Rahul Roy had the same hairstyle. I thought a small town hero would have long hair like this. The yesteryear heroes all had long hair, which inspired me.)
In Tere Naam, Salman played Radhe Mohan, a jobless rowdy youth with a strong sense of justice, a character far removed from the dignified figure of Dr. Kalam. The contrast, however, adds a unique depth to the film’s cultural legacy.
