An 11-year old boy died on Thursday falling from the roof of a seven-storied building in the city's Sturapur area.
The deceased was identified as Salvi Jihad, a student of class IV and son of Shah Alam, mechanic of a local welding factory.
According to Jihad’s uncle Masud, Jihad went to the rooftop of a neighbour’s building in RM Das lane with some other kids in the afternoon.

His slipped while trying to catch a torn kite and fell down from the roof, he said.
Jihad was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where doctors announced him dead at 5:30 pm, said Bacchu Mia, In-charge Inspector of DMCH police outpost.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and the concerned police station has been informed about the accident, he said.
