A total of 162 Bangladeshis, who were stranded in Singapore due to the shutdown over coronavirus outbreak, returned home on a special flight on Tuesday.
The special flight of US-Bangla Airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:35pm, said Md Kamrul Islam, general manager (public relations) of the airline.
As Bangladesh completely shut air communication on both domestic and international routes in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in late March, some Bangladeshis got stuck in Singapore as well as other countries.
Considering their condition, the US-Bangla Airlines operated the special flight in collaboration with the governments of Bangladesh and Singapore.
Earlier, the airline operated flights to some other countries and brought a good number of stranded Bangladeshis back.
