Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Monday seized eight gold bars, weighing a combined 2.5 kg from Chakulia in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-6 conducted a drive in the area and seized the gold bars worth Tk 1.52 crore from the bordering area, said Director of BGB-6, Lieutenant Colonel Khalekuzzaman.
However, BGB could not arrest anyone as the smugglers managed to flee the scene sensing presence of the border guards.
The seized items were deposited at Chuadanga Treasury office.
