Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives arrested 57 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in 24 hours till 6 am on Wednesday.
During the drives, 45,743 contraband yaba pills, 559 grams of heroin, 98.675 grams of hemp and 78 bottles of contraband Phensidyle were recovered from the possessions of the arrestees.
As part of the DMP’s regular anti-drug drives, Detective Branch (DB) and teams from local police stations launched drives in various areas in the capital from 6 am Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday and recovered the drugs.

A total of 40 cases were registered with local police stations against the arrestees under the Narcotics Control Act.
