Confirming the matter, Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, deputy director of the hospital, said eight of the interns have already been tested and the rest will be tested gradually.
All of them were kept at the Intern Hostel of the hospital, he said, adding that their infected colleague was also there in isolation.
Dr Himangshu said the intern tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, another pregnant woman was diagnosed with coronavirus at the hospital’s Gynaecology department on Thursday.
All the physicians and health workers, who came in contact with her, will be sent on quarantine, said Dr Himangshu.
Earlier on April 13, 44 health workers, including 19 physicians, of the hospital were sent on home-quarantine as they came in contact with a COVID-19 patient.
On April 15, Dr Moyeen Uddin, assistant professor of the Medicine department of the hospital, died of coronavirus at a Dhaka hospital as the first physician in the country.
Dr Moyeen was detected with coronavirus on April 5 as the first case of Covid-19 in the district.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 131 deaths and 4,689 coronavirus cases.
