A battery-run rickshaw driver, who was injured in a knife attack by miscreants in Kamrangirchar, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Akram Hossain, 27, from Jamalpur and a resident of Jaulahati area in Kamrangirchar.
He lived in Dhaka with his wife and one son.
Inspector Md Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station, said, “Akram was found injured near Jaulahati Kholamora area early Thursday. He was rushed to DMCH with stab injuries on his throat. Later, he died around 7:30 pm while undergoing treatment at ward no 101”.
“We suspect miscreants stabbed him during a snatching attempt as two youths were seen fleeing the scene”, the OC added.
Relatives said that Akram could not speak due to his injuries.
He underwent surgery in the afternoon but succumbed in the evening.

Police said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy and an investigation was underway.
