On this occasion, Ambassador M Shahidul Islam hoisted the national flag in the Chancery premises. Later, accompanied by the officials of the Embassy, he placed a floral wreath at the bust of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A discussion session was held at the Chancery on highlighting the significance of the day. The messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam were read out.
At the end of the programme, a special prayer was offered, seeking divine blessings and salvation of the departed souls of the Father of the nation and other members of his family.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador M Shahidul Islam illuminated on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's life and ideals. He said that we must take lessons from the philosophy of Bangabandhu.
He added that the public servants, following the ideals of Bangabandhu, should carry on their services to the nation and remain unwavering in the question of principles.
Mentioning the hard work and firm resolve of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to realize the Father of the nation's dreams, the Ambassador urged all to contribute to building 'Sonar Bangla'.
