Dhaka, Aug 7 (UNB) - Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali paid last respect to India’s former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday.
He placed a wreath at her mortal remains on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her New Delhi residence.
The envoys talked to Bansuri Sewaraj, daughter of Sushma Swaraj, and conveyed the prime minister’s deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved family, according to Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
Bansuri expressed her gratitude to the Bangladesh Prime Minister for standing by her family at this difficult time.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had expressed condolence at the demise of Sushma Swaraj, calling her “a good friend of Bangladesh”. “During her stint as the external Affairs Minister of India, our bilateral relations reached a new dimension,” she said in a message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
