The injured was identified as NazirHossainMollah, 50, a supporter of BNP’sward 29 councillor candidate Hazi Mohammad Shahidul Islam.
Haider Ali, who along with several others rushed Nazir to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told UNB that the incident took place at Namapara at around 7pm.
“Supporters of Awami League councillor candidate Jahangir Alam Babul, led by his cousin Rubel, attacked Nazir and stabbed him indiscriminately,” he said.
Nazirsustained multiple stab wounds in the head, back and abdomen, Haider said.
Dhaka’s two city corporations are scheduled to go to polls on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a man was injured in a clash between the followers of Awami League’s DSCC ward councillor candidate and independent candidate in City’s Arambagh area around 8:40pm, said Motijheel Police Station Duty Officer Farid Ahmed.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured was taken to DMCH, he added.
