The deceased has been identified as Robin, 22, a staff of Hanif Paribahan counter. He was the son of Abdur Rahman of Noyarhat area of Digrirtek (Mothertek) under Ashulia thana.
Locals said that Robin went missing after he started for his home from Bypile Aziz Filling Station of Ashulia at about 1.30am on Thursday. Later the inhabitants of the area found his body lying adjacent to the Dairy Farm Gate opposite Jahangirnagar University around 7am.
Being informed the police recovered the body from the spot and then sent it Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital for autopsy.
Ramijuddin, Counter Manager of Hanif Paribahan, said that Robin had informed him over the phone that he would go home after closing the counter. Later on Thursday afternoon, he came to know that Robin had been hacked to death.
Shirin Akhter, mother of the deceased, said that Robin was the eldest among her two sons, and the only earning member. She had found Robin’s phone switched off at around 2.30am, about an hour after Robin packed up at work.
Wounds inflicted by a knife or other sharp object were found on the victim’s head and chest areas. However there are no clues as yet as to who may have killed Robin.
Emdad Hossain, SI of Ashulia Police Station, said that “On information we have recovered the body from the spot and informed the family members.”
