Chattogram: Army cadet goes missing after 'drowning'


Army Cadet Asif, 19, went missing on Monday after going for a swim in the River Sangu in Chattogram.

The incident took place in the late evening. Coast Guard and Navy are still looking for him, Anwara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Jobayer Ahmed confirmed this to UNB.

"A trainee army man went missing in the River Sangu in Anwara upazila as he went there as part of the winter exercise of the army," Lieutenant Commander Habibur Rahman, in-charge of Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone, said.

"Upon receiving the news, the Coast Guard divers started searching the place."
