Chinese New Year: DCAB and CMG usher in Year of the Ox

China Media Group (CMG), Bangladesh Bureau on Saturday celebrated the Chinese New Year with diplomatic correspondents based in Dhaka.
Third Secretary (Culture) at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Zha Mingwei, Chief of CMG Bangladesh Bureau Yu Guang Yue (Anandi), former Director General (DG) Bangladesh Betar Hosne Ara Talukder, President of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) Pantho Rahaman, DCAB General Secretary AKM Moinuddin, General Secretary of Bangladesh-China Friendship Centre Jahangir Rana and DCAB members were present.
Zha Mingwei reiterated Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming's message saying they are now in close discussion with the Bangladesh government over vaccine assistance.
"China just announced to provide 10 million covid vaccines to developing countries through the COVAX initiative," he said.
Addressing the function, Anandi said the DCAB and CMG can play a role to enhance people to people contact between the two countries.
She said she considers Bangladeshi media friends as her family members and thanked the DCAB members for joining the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Chinese New Year is widely celebrated around the world.
The Chinese Embassy says the charm of this ancient festival transcends borders and races.
The Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China and this year fell on February 12, marking the start of the Year of the Ox.
