The arrestee was identified as Md Shariful Islam, Assistant teacher of Chemistry at Patgram Adarsha Degree College.
Sub-Inspector Ashraful Islam filed the case under Digital Security Act with Patgram Police Station at 12am on Wednesday.
Later, Islam was arrested from his house at Mirzarkot of Patgram Municipality, said Officer-in-Charge of Patgram Police Station Sumon Kumar Mohonto.
In a Facebook post on May 11, Islam claimed that following the guideline of social distancing has severely hurt the Quran, Islam and religious belief, the OC said.
Kumar said: “Washing hands frequently, using face masks and staying at home can’t prevent the COVID-19, the teacher claimed.”
