An 11-year-old boy ‘tested positive’ for Covid-19 at Kalibari village in Nagarkanda upazila here on Friday.
With the latest one, the total number of identified cases in the district has reached eight.
Dr Md Siddiqur Rahman, civil surgeon of the district, said the boy was taken to Nagarkanda Health Complex with high fever on Thursday and hospital authorities sent his sample to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for test.
“He was declared to be infected with the deadly virus around 5pm on Friday,” the civil surgeon said, adding that they have collected samples of other members of the family.
The boy might have been infected from his father, who is a truck-driver in profession, he said.
Bangladesh has so far recorded 131 deaths and 4,689 cases from the virus.
