The government has so far confirmed the death of 52 people from the mosquito-borne disease after reviewing the death of 88 people.
In Jashore, Rebeka Khatun, 55, wife of Sekendar of Monirampur upazila, died around 7:30pm at 250-bed General Hospital, said Dr Obaidul Quader.
She was hospitalised on Monday after being diagnosed with dengue, her relatives said.
In Dhaka, two dengue patients died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Md Zisan, 18, son of Billal Hossain of Joydebpur upazila in Gazipur, died in the morning. On the other hand, 20-year-old Ritu, the wife of Ibrahim Mollah of South Keraniganj, died around 7:45pm.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said Zisan was admitted to the hospital on Monday with dengue fever. He died around 7am.
Another young man died of dengue at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The deceased was identified as Mahtab Uddin, 24, of Biral upazila in Dinajpur.
Dr Saiduzzaman, associate professor of medicine department, said Mahtab was admitted to the hospital on August 18 and had been kept at the intensive care unit for several days.
He was shifted to the general ward recently after his condition improved. He died around 1am.
In Jhenaidah, Sufia Begum, wife of Abdur Rahim of Baniria in Kaliganj upazila, died at Kaliganj upazila health complex in the morning after being diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease.
Dr Husain Safayet of the health complex said Sufia was admitted to the hospital with fever and headache on Monday. Tests confirmed that she had been infected with dengue.
In Gopalganj, Mahmuda, 30, wife of Amir Hossain of Nazirpur in Pirojpur, died in the morning at 250-Bed General Hospital, said Residential Medical Officer Dr Faruk.
Civil Surgeon Dr Tarun Mandal said she was admitted to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex on Sunday with dengue and was shifted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital on Monday as her condition deteriorated.
She died around 10am, Dr Faruk said.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 66,064 patients were hospitalised with dengue since January 1. Of them, 60, 569 were discharged after recovery.
In 24 hours till 8am on Tuesday, 1,299 dengue patients were hospitalised and 608 of the cases were recorded in Dhaka alone.
Currently, 5,322 patients are being treated at different hospitals and clinics, according to the DGHS Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room. Of them, 2,999 are receiving treatment in Dhaka and 2,323 outside the capital.
