The Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has recovered and returned 251 mobile phones of various brands to their actual owners after they were lost, stolen or snatched in different incidents across the city.

Sources at the Tejgaon Division of the DMP said,  local thana police carried out operations in various areas over the past month based on general diaries (GD) and complaints filed by victims of theft, snatching, and lost phones. With the help of information technology, several police stations under Tejgaon Division played key roles in tracking and retrieving the phones.

Among the recovered devices, 63 were seized by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, 54 by Hatirjheel Police Station, 40 by Mohammadpur Police Station, 32 each by Tejgaon Industrial Area and Adabor police stations, and 30 by Tejgaon Police Station.

The recovered mobile phones were handed over to respective owners from a formal handover ceremony took place at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon division) Md. Ibne Mizan handed over the phones to their rightful owners in presence of senior officials of the division and journalists from various print and electronic media, said DC (Media) of the DMP Talebur Rahman.

Many recipients expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the police for retrieving their cherished devices. Several became emotional while receiving their phones, which they thought were lost forever.

The DMP continues to urge city dwellers to promptly file GDs and cooperate with law enforcement agency in case of such incidents, as timely reporting significantly aids in recovery efforts.
