Quader, also the Roads, Bridges and Highways Minister, said this at a regular briefing at his official residence this morning. He refuted the BNP leaders' allegations that the government was arbitrarily composing the history of the Liberation War.
He questioned who was the beneficiary of the murder of the great hero of the Liberation War and his family and who had precluded the scope for legal proceedings against the murderers - implying the slain president and founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman in both cases. "The new generation has come to know about it," Quader said.
Obaidul Quader also remarked that BNP fathered the distorted history of independence in this country. He also said that the BNP patronises the agenda of the 'anti-independence extremist communal group' behind the scene.

Awami League's general secretary said that BNP is creating artificial obstacles to advance democracy. He said the country's democracy was repeatedly stumbling as the BNP continued anti-election politics on the one hand and propaganda and conspiracy on the other.
The fourth phase of municipal elections will be held across the country tomorrow, noted the general secretary of the Awami League, going on to add that Sheikh Hasina's government believes in freedom of expression and respects democratic values.
Obaidul Quader is hopeful that tomorrow's election will be held in a fair, free and peaceful environment as in the previous three rounds.
