A 10-day programme has been organised nationally where five foreign heads of states and governments are expected to come to Dhaka to attend these events.

“Don’t hold any meetings, rallies and programmes during this period that may disrupt the movement and security of the state dignitaries,” he said at a programme at Rajarbagh Police Lines.

Police Service Foundation organised the scholarships awarding programme of meritorious children of police officers at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium.

IGP Benazir urged the people to cooperate with police and restrict their movement during this period.

‘Be free from militancy’

Benazir said everyone has to be free from militancy and practice religion consciously. Religious customs and values have to be practiced with awareness.

He asked the students to stay away from drugs.

“You have to prepare yourselves as proud citizens of the country. You must have self-esteem and self-respect. There must be love for the country, respect for the history and tradition of the country," he said.

He urged the parents to spend time with their children. "You (parents) have to understand their needs. You have to be careful so that they don’t become victims of cybercrime,” he said.

Md Mahbubur Rahman, DIG of Industrial Police and Vice President of Bangladesh Police Service Association, presided over the function.

Additional IG (Administration and Operations) of Police headquarters Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional Commissioner of DMP Krishnapad Roy, Superintendent of Police of Narayanganj and General Secretary of Bangladesh Police Service Association Mohammad Zaidul Alam addressed the programme, among others.

Afroza Parveen spoke on behalf of the students.

Heads of various police units based in Dhaka, senior officers, students and their parents were present at the event.
