Ukhiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Panna Akter said the incident took place at Sub-block A-3 of the Kutupalong Rohingya camp around 3:00pm, when a large chunk of mud collapsed onto the roof of a madrasah amid incessant rain.
Locals recovered the bodies of five deceased from the scene and rescued several others trapped under the debris.
Of those rescued alive, five were admitted to a local hospital in a critical condition, where three of them succumbed to their injuries, the UNO said.
The incident occurred three days after nine people, including seven members of two families, were killed in landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the district in the early hours of June 6.
With this, a total of 17 people died in separate landslides in the district in three days.
