Fake deposition in murder case: 5 accused told to surrender


The High Court (HC) on Wednesday cancelled bail of five accused and directed them to surrender within one week in for providing false deposition in a murder case.

The accused were freed after securing bail from a virtual court on May 18.

The HC cancelled their bails as the state lawyer informed the court about the fake documents they submitted for securing bails.

Police Superintendent has been directed to arrest the accused if they don’t surrender in a week. The accused are — Lutfar Shaikh, Sohag Sheikh, Juwel Sheikh, Selim Sheikh and Abdullah Molla.

A virtual bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain passed the order.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah stood for the state.

Dr Bashir Ullah said the accused in their bail plea stated that they were not involved in the murder but deposition of the case confirmed their involvement with the killing.

The murder case was filed over killing one Tipu Shaikh of Dighalia upazila in Khulna on September 8 last year.
