The Appellate Division of Supreme Court (SC) will operate virtually for three days weekly from April 12, to prevent the transmission of Coronavirus. Directed by the Chief Justice Appellate Division registrar Md Badrul Alam Bhuiya issued a circular on Sunday in this regard. The Appellate Division will operate on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm on limited scale. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the government will introduce activities of virtual courts at district level during this coronavirus situation to ensure judicial services for the justice seekers.

A total of 6,822 people secured bail after their petitions were heard by virtual courts between July 19 and July 23.

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said that virtual courts will be used in special conditions based on necessity while regular court proceedings will resume after the Covid-19 pandemic elope.

A total of 6,542 people secured bail after their petitions were heard by virtual courts across the country in five days as of Thursday.   Hearing on 14,340 bail petitions were held virtually during the period, said Md Saifur Rahman, special officer of Bangladesh Supreme Court.   Court operation remained suspended since March 26 but trial proceedings through videoconference began on May 11 during the general holidays to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
