Deputy Director of ACC Mohammad Shahjahan filed the case with Dhaka coordinated office -1, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Three other accused of the case are-- Mahbubul Haque Chisty, former audit committee chairman of Farmers Bank Ltd renamed as Padma Bank, his son Rashedul Haque and managing director Ibrahim Khalil of Regent Hospital Ltd.
According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other embezzled Tk 2.71 crore from Padma Bank Limited, (Farmers Bank Limited) abusing their power in 2015.
Farmers Bank was established in June 2013 while investigations of Bangladesh Bank found massive irregularities in the bank’s loan disbursement along with a huge amount of default loans in 2017.
The bank’s chairman and former home minister MK Alamgir and Audit Committee chief Mahabubul resigned following the scandal while the central bank in December also removed the bank’s managing director.
