State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Directors General and Directors of various wings at the MoFA visited the deep seaport on Saturday.
Dr Momen planted a sapling at the port area after visiting its various facilities.
The tour was arranged to give the officials a clear idea about the development of the port and its facilities so that they can share it globally, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.

Dr Momen said the officials will be in a better position to brief about the facilities of the seaport in the external world.
He hoped that the officials and staff members at the seaport will work sincerely and provide quality services in handling operational activities that will help the seaport to remain competitive in the world.
A video documentary on the port activities and future plans was screened during the visit.

Currently, around 200 vessels ply through 45 nautical miles channel annually but some 50 vessels will be able to ply every day once it becomes fully functional.
Some construction works including establishment of a power plant have been completed at the deep sea port area.
Payra deep seaport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on November 19, 2013 in an effort to ease burden on Chattogram and Monga ports.
