He said when a delegation led by the University Grants Commission ( UGC) Chairman Kazi Shahidullah presented the commission's 'Annual Report 2019' to the President at Bangabhaban in the evening.
President Press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed the reporters after the meeting.

The president said education is not a commercial product. So there is no way to compromise on the quality of education.
He also emphasized on expanding the research activities in the university and ensuring its quality so that the students can move forward keeping pace times.

Alongside, the President advised UGC to play a strong role in eliminating any irregularities in public and private universities.
During the meeting, the UGC Chairman briefed the President on the overall activities of the Commission and various aspects of the annual report, including the progress of the admission test in a cluster manner.

The UGC chairman informed the President that 42150 students of government universities have been given loans to buy mobile phones so that they can continue their education activities using digital methods during the pandemic situation.
The President expressed his satisfaction over the overall functioning of the UGC.
