West Thana Police conducted simultaneous drives in the city and its adjoining areas and arrested the suspects.
They were identified as – Sundori Sumon, Shawpan, Md Biplob, Tayub Ali alias Ujjal, Jahangir Bepari alias Redoy, Tanvir Rahman alias Nehal, Md Jihad, Nurul Islam Rabbi and Md Rakib.

Briefing reporters at Uttara East Police Station on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner (Uttara Division) Md Shahidullah said a team of Uttara East Police Station arrested Sundari Sumon and Shawpan from Tongi and Uttara on December 12. Police also recovered a knife, which was used in killing college student Jisan, from them.
Police interrogated them bringing them under police remand. During interrogation, they disclosed the names of others involved in the killing, the DC said.

Based on their information, police arrested Biplob and Taiyub Ali from Narsingdi, Jahangir Bepari, Tanvir, Jihad, Rabbi and Rakib from Uttara and Tongi areas.
Most of the arrestees are accused in a number of cases, including mugging, drugs and theft filed at different police stations in the capital.

Jisan was a student at Khalilur Rahman Degree College of Sonaimuri in Noakhali.
A mugger snatched a mobile phone from Jisan through the window of a bus while the vehicle was crossing the city's Abdullahpur area on Dec 10. He came down from the bus and chased the mugger.

Jisan’s friend Ruhul Amin, 17, also followed him. After a chase, Jisan managed to catch the mugger. The mugger stabbed Jisan and his friend, leaving them injured.
Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Jisan dead.
