Sanal Kumar, the chairman of Jordan’s largest readymade garment factory, met Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad on Thursday.
The meeting took place at the minister’s office. Ministry Secretary Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen and Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) Managing Director Md Saiful Hassan Badal were present at the meeting.
Sanal Kumar, the Managing Director Classic Fashion, said 16,000 out of his 26,000 workers are Bangladeshis.
He said his company would hire another 12,000 workers from Bangladesh next year and the recruitment would continue in the future.
Bangladesh is one of the largest exporters of readymade garment products in the world. A number of Bangladeshi RMG workers are already working in Jordan’s readymade garment sector.
Earlier this month, Bangladesh Ambassador to Jordan Nahida Sobhan visited the largest garments factory in Jordan and assured the Bangladeshi workers of Classic Fashion Apparels that the Embassy would always stand by them to ensure their rights and welfare.
