Three firearms, including an unauthorised one along with bullets, and contraband Yaba pills were also recovered from his possession.
The arrestee is Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of Dhaka South city unit of Jubo League. He is also president of Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club where the casino is situated.
The arrest came after a Rab mobile court detained 142 people from the casino.
Contacted, Director (Legal and Media) of the Rab Headquarters Lt Col Sarwar- Bin-Kashem said the elite force picked Khalid up around 7:30pm.
He said the Rab team recovered an illegal firearm loaded with bullets and Yaba tablets during the drive.
They also seized two other licensed firearms for violating the licence conditions, Sarwar said.
He said a Rab mobile court, led by its executive magistrate Sarower Alam, conducted a drive at the casino in the evening and detained 142 people.
Later, the detainees were sentenced to jail terms ranging from six months to one year.
Besides, Tk 24 lakh in cash, foreign liquor, Yaba pills and some casino boards were seized from the club.
Meanwhile, the elite force sealed off three more casinos at Banani, Motijheel and Gulistan.
A Rab-1 team conducted a raid on Golden Dhaka Bangladesh casino situated at Ahmed Tower of Banani, said Commanding Officer of the Rab-1 Lt Col Sarwar.
However, all the people inside the casino fled sensing a possible drive, he said, adding that they recovered some casino boards before sealing off.
Besides, a Rab-3 team conducted a drive at a casino inside Dhaka Wanderers Club in the evening where illegal drugs, fake currency, huge money and gambling materials were seized.
However, no-one was arrested from it as all the inmates fled as well, said the Rab official.
The Rab men also sealed off the casino, he added.
In Gulistan, law enforcers conducted a drive in Pir Yamini Market area, sealed off the casino of Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra and seized a huge quantity of illegal drugs, cash, and casino materials.
The mobile court sentenced 40 people to different terms in jail.
According to media reports, there are 60 illegal casinos in the capital.
Gambling takes place regularly at the casinos situated in Segunbagicha, Motijheel, Fakirerpool, Dilkusha, Bank Colony, Arambagh, Nayapaltan, Kakrail, Gulistan, Osmani Udyan, Bangabazar, Gulshan Link Road, Uttara, New Market and Kalabagan areas.
