A doctor, who was infected with Covid-19, died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Dr SM Nur Uddin Abu Al Baki Rumi, 48, assistant Prof of Kushtia Medical College (surgery department) and resident of Mujibnagar in Meherpur.
Dr Tapash Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of Kushtia General Hospital, said Dr Nur Uddin had tested positive for coronavirus on July 3. Later, he was taken to BSMMU that day as he has been suffering from diabetes.
Dr Nur breathed his last around 3am.

With the death of the physician, a total of 22 Covid-19 patients have died so far in the district.
Besides, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 1,103 while 620 people made full recovery.
Bangladesh on Thursday reported 2,733 new cases of coronavirus, raising the national tally to 1,96,323. The country also counted deaths of 39 people, bringing the total death to 2,496.
