A man suffering from respiratory problems and diabetes died in Sadar Hospital on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Selim, resident of Sampur village in Sonagazi upazila.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sajjad Hossain said Selim was admitted to the hospital with coronavirus symptoms on Wednesday. He passed away overnight.
His samples were collected for coronavirus test, Dr Sajjad said.
Besides, samples of 23 local government officials including an upazila chairman, UNO, municipality mayor, two OCs were collected on Thursday, after a government employee they came in contact with recently was found coronavirus positive, said Dr Rubaiyat Bin Karim, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer.
