President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday called upon the government and private entrepreneurs to come forward for conservation of different species of fish as well as increase their production.
He said this while releasing fish fry in a pond at Bangabhaban today as part of National Fisheries Week.
The President said that the fisheries sector is a potential sector in meeting the demand for protein as well as earning foreign exchange.
Besides, expansion of this sector is also very important for creating employment opportunities, he added.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Shams Rezaul Karim, President's Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim Uz Zaman, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Raunak Mahmud and officials of Bangabhaban were present on the occasion.
